This could become a catch phrase round the office for not prioritising problems & approaching them with blinkers on.
Take the sort by mileage addition to the garage, yes its useful as the game stands but....
I am lead to believe GT6 is pushing the PS3 to the limits & the garage is restricted in size partly due to this & to improve loading times.
So why not remove the mileage & car degradation from the game?
File size shrinks in the garage as you only have to record one set of data for the car not its as bought & mileage related data. Hey faster loading time.
While driving the car no longer has to monitor mileage & degradation so you can free up some resources.
For those of you who say its realistic I say total rubbish its a generic formula, keeping it simple a highly tuned engine will degrade faster than a lightly tuned one. Especially if you add aftermarket bits rather than design it to cope. In other words it varies from engine to engine.
More realistic would be a change in engine performance linked to the track. Height above sea level & average humidity for that area are your 2 main factors as they effect air density.
The only place it has in the game would be for endurance races (whoops none exist offline)
If the race distance is above x miles the game could degrade on mileage, as its a guestimate anyway the game could do the calculation before the race starts. Degrade at 150k thats part way round lap 17 so all cars will suffer at that point rather than monitor it.
This assumes the car is at peak performance at the start of course but would you start an endurance race any other way.
Just occured to me you would lose that other PD invention of the magic oil so that wont need monitering either.
Not even one of the better examples of PDs total lack of "Vision" they are in danger of becoming dinosaurs in their own time, the difference being while they ruled the world their extinction was brought about by their own doing.
