Hello,
I need some help/advice/direction about getting a wheel again. I purchased GT3 and GT4 a while back and had a Mad Catz steering wheel that worked great until the pedals started to act up. I think it lasted a few months with medium to heavy use until there was no longer any play in the accelerator. It behaved as if it was floored or not at all. Other than that, it was fine.
After a video game break for many years, I've returned to GT4 using the PS controller. I would like to get a wheel, but am really apprehensive that I will run into these same problems again. I read rave reviews about the Logitech Driving Force Pro, but found that more users than I would have thought have pedal problems that need addressed. Fortunately this wheel can be found for a decent price.
I have read and seen videos about repairing the pedals, but am not sure I want to go the trouble of cracking it open only to realize I can't fix it. I guess my question is, is there an understanding among avid GT'ers that most pedals are expected to fail, and is this something that you just have to deal with?
I don't want to spend the money like I did on my Mad Catz only to sell it at a garage sale for $5.
Thank you,
Chuck
P.S. -- I am pretty serious about the GT, just have a lot of home responsibilities that keep me from playing regularly. (I am 41 and have played the entire GT series except #5
