so done a few daily races first for a while, and on some of them even with 1 or 2 light penalties (I’m talking a 1 or 2 second awarded penalty) I’ve gotten a red SR rating at the end of the race. So is anything other than a clean race a Red SR? If your doing a 10lap race with 3 sectors and you have 2 sectors that you had a penalty surely that’s overrule the other 28 sectors where you were penalty free?

I’m not burning the penalties off straight away I wait till a really slow corner then burn it off, could this be effecting the final SR rating?

A couple of minor incidents should not get you a red rating in Race C, in A and B though it could as they are too short but it is far too easy to lose SR now wherever you race.

The system is bugged as well, again today I got a clean race and the bonus that goes with it when I got a penalty, yet later on I ran a penalty free race and didn't.

They been mixture of A B and C, just really annoying that’s all. Your so heavily penalised for 1 or 2 slight errors. This is what made me notnplay it for a month or so. I think Battlefoeld 1 will be getting fired up again.

It's nothing to do with burning or carrying time penalties.

I am pretty sure it measures the seriousness of an incident though, so one really bad incident could potentially give you a red rating on a 10 lap race.

I wouldn't worry about a red rating though, it doesn't really mean anything... just get back up in the next race :)

Still, the variation is penalty is a MASSIVE issue.

Today, I got disconnected, so even more DR free fall and I end up, again as the only A in a room full of B, C, and D.

B drivers and down seem to drive with impunity with no regard for contact at all. What gives? On the last lap, the guy behind me makes a mad lunge for the lead, slams into me, gets a three second penalty, but then on the exit to start finish (Alsace Btw) he has a wall tap. I try to avoid, but nope. I get a 10 second penalty for the rear end tap.

He shouldn't even have been there! If the same severity applied all the way down the ranks, bad driving would be eradicated!

And, I will trumpet this until it's pulled, this 1 second penalty for every contact in A group and higher is BS. How you can argue that a player has less driving manners from being a victim is beyond me and it has caused my ratings to PLUMMET since it's introduction. If PD insists on keeping it to remove all contact (which, I have never seen in a real world race) then, again, this needs to be applied to ALL LEVELS!!

You might only had 2 incidents with penalties and visible SR down, however if someone hits you and you don't get the penalty or SR Down, it will still dock you SR points anyway. I have had races with red rating while not getting any SR Down or penalties, even gotten the clean race bonus. Yet due to getting hit from behind a number of times it was still red at the end.

It's very harsh atm as in a race C 2 incidents can indeed cause a red rating, your fault or not. Especially those 10 sec penalties carry a ton of SR loss. Just 3 times getting hit in the daily C on DT GR.1 dropped me down to SR.A in one race. Nothing I could do about it, getting pushed into the car in front, clipping an accident and hitting traffic bashing into each other in front of me at the last moment.

Current Penalty system is a real Crap!!! And the rest... is day dreaming...

Seems to me that racing was WAY cleaner when they tightened up the penalty system, and got worse again when they relaxed them. Either way people are going to complain no matter what. So dust yourselves off and let's race! :gtpflag:

I think they should make it tougher to get an S rating. There are way too many times that I have started on pole or in front only to get knocked off track in the first corner by alleged S drivers. Im B/S, had 2 poles at Willow Springs street course last night and 2 times I got punted all the way to Interlagos by alleged S drivers 1st corner of 1st lap. When crap like that happens it would be cool if they could restart the race with the offender at the back. In both of my punted races the guys who punted me led for awhile while I went to last and 3rd from last respectively.

I'm going top have to disagree. If that were the case, I wouldn't be getting constant 1 second penalties.

At this point, I'm thinking who cares about the penalties? I am seriously considering throwing in the towel and forcing my way past the car in front of me and taking that 3-5 second penalty because, as it stands, I am getting 2-3 seconds a race anyway from people hitting me while I am trying to stay clean.

It happened yet again today in Race B at Nurb. Corner one, the first three cars ( I was third) have no issue, go into turn one fine. The guy behind me hits me. Bang! 1 second penalty. Then, on the next lap, he makes another terrible move. Bang! 1 second penalty.

If I had just lunged up the inside at the first turn and said "screw it" to the penalties, I might have gotten three seconds and I could have run my own race. I might have won by enough of a margin to negate the penalties or I could have run them off. When I am getting penalties for being clean, where's the difference? If I play rough, I end up finishing higher and getting more DR in the process. It will get me out of the cesspool I am in at the moment.

Driving clean, with this current system, is doing me no favours at all. I am have dropped steadily from S to mid level A and if I am going to dig my way out, I will have to resort to the same overly aggressive driving as the people around me.

That´s nice.. and a it stupid... tooo...

If you keep being penalized and your SR drops, you get a nice cut on your DR points and class.. so where Will it will take you?? To an yo-yo DR evolution... and SR "down-volution"... lol.. :p

All I got today on the 4 lap GR.3 Race on Nurb GP was hit in the back, swiped and divebombed by impatient slower drivers only to overtake them again as they skidded off on the next bend. At one point 2 other drivers tried to drive through the S I was already in front and had nowhere to go and anotrher car that had skidded off went solid in front of me...BANG! 4sec penalty I was clipped a few more times and I accrued the penalties??? By the end of the race my 4th position became 9th and B slipped to C. Its what has put me off the online races recently so far and few in between clean races. I just wish they would stick with a penalty system and stop moving the gateposts for the whingers

I kind of agree with you. I was B/S before a couple of races a Willow City course, 1 start from 2nd, 1 from 3rd, both times rear ended under braking at first corner. One race I went back to last from 1st turn crash, got penalties from guys running off then cutting across track in front of me and another penalty for short cutting due to being hit. Next race ended up around 10th after first corner crash, its almost impossible to race with the mid-field pack. If I slow down and wait for the guy in front to run off (he will) then I have the guy in back hitting me. If I try passing guy in front I will collect more penalties after he hits me. My goal is a clean race even if I have have to give up a few spots to succeed. There are just too many players that will race you hard for 2nd to last place, I dont get it. Last nights FIA was Monza, enough said there. Then at Maggiore FIA starting 4th had someone insisting on passing thru 1st turn complex, about 6 cars were involved there, I entered T3 in 10th place, I just dont get it. Why cant these guys let everyone get up to speed and settle in before getting aggressive????:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

This morning I started Nurb in 2nd, pole sitter gets knocked to Spa in 1st corner L1 but it gave me the win. 2nd race I started 4th and this time I got hit 1st turn L1, do these IDIOTS not know their braking points? Its the heaviest braking zone on the course, they certainly should if not they should not be racing.

Tell me about it and the first few corners after are slow ones the more you rag it the more you have to slam the anchors on (and slow yourself down in the process) I like to drive in control so I'm not heavy or late braking to the last second. Idiots were trying to overtake (ha ha ha) here and failing.

I'm on the button so I see the corners opening up and can get on the power earlier the Idiots you describe make it impossible to drive the natural paths of the tracks Brands Hatch is a fine example of what I'm taking about ...overtaking where you can't, PIT manoevreing faster drivers in corners or first corner carnage. It should be renamed Brands Hatchetjob for GT. I've never had such a poor race on the Nurb before its technicality used to exclude the crash and bangers. I havent had a good race in weeks unless I see a few familiar names in the lobby then its on.

Way ahead of you. Been 3 days in Battlefield 1. :D

I understand your frustration. Believe me I do! All I was saying is before the last penalty system update PD tightened the penalty system up and it seemed like everyone was REAL cautious about making ANY contact at all.

From my observations, the initial penalty was jacked up (people complained it was too loose). They tightened it up a bit, and no one was being aggressive, and forcing their way past (people complained it was too tight). Now it's like they've loosened them up again and the inexperienced racers are back to doing the same thing from the 1st penalty system.
My take is it's out of my control. I'll do what I can to have a clean respectable race of possible. If I do have a bad outing I just dust myself off and get into the next race. Now, I am in NO way as fast as you guys are, and am only a B/B driver was B/S headed towards A/S, but never quite got close enough before my down hill spiral. Not sure I want to make it to DR A after hearing the nightmares you guys/gals have been dealing with lol.

I'm already in a yo-yo. That's my point.

But the 1 second penalty is crap exists multiple levels. B drivers aren't getting or giving them, which causes them to be allowed to barge up the inside of A drivers with impunity. Whereas I can be somewhat assured an S or an A driver won't make a move, because the space is sketchy, a B driver divebombs and bumps me off track.

So, again, what's the point of the penalties if we aren't all playing on level ground? With all the uproar over TCS and CSA, where is the same level of outrage over this?
