Hello,

I am writing to express serious frustration with the current penalty system in Gran Turismo 7 Sport Mode.

At the moment, the system is clearly failing to deal with dirty driving. Many players are deliberately crashing into others in corners or hitting cars from the side or from behind, and very often they receive no penalty at all. Meanwhile, the innocent driver ends up losing positions or even the entire race.

This completely ruins the experience for players who are trying to race cleanly. It is extremely frustrating to see aggressive drivers destroy someone’s race in the first corners and still finish on the podium without any consequences.

Personally, last week I did ten races and in every single one I was hit by other drivers who used these tactics. My race was ruined while the drivers responsible continued normally without penalties.

Many players invest significant money in sim racing equipment to enjoy a serious racing experience in Gran Turismo. When the online races become chaotic because dirty driving is not properly punished, it pushes players away from Sport Mode and even from the game itself.

A major improvement to the penalty and collision detection system is urgently needed. Players who intentionally cause contact must be clearly identified and penalized. Otherwise, the quality and credibility of online racing will continue to deteriorate.

Gran Turismo has always represented fair and respectful racing. The current state of Sport Mode does not reflect that philosophy anymore.

Please take this issue seriously and consider implementing a significant update to the penalty system.

Hello my friend, you are preaching to a very large choir, there is nothing new in your words as we all have experienced and seen this before. The only thing I can suggest to you is to be aware of the others and drive more defensively knowing that some characters do not play fair. Personally I tend to back down and let the fools pass as they will probably get their just desserts from someone else and I find that I am in a better position than I started.
I wish also that you do not give up and do your best in each and every race. Race clean and fair and you can an will move up in the Driver Ratings.

We're an independent media site with no role in the development of, or support for, Gran Turismo, so there's nothing we can do about it.

You also don't have to look too hard to find other threads of this nature...

Also:

Gran Turismo has always represented fair and respectful racing.
When? Most GT games represent AI that'll blithely batter into you and even when penalties were introduced they only applied to you. We didn't even get a proper penalty matrix until GT Sport, and it's been complained about ever since.

D'abordFirst, I never mentioned AI. Second, if this post bothers you, you can delete it. I thought maybe PlayStation or Polyphony, you might see this message here. If I have broken any rules of this forum, please excuse me.

First, I never mentioned AI.
Nor did I say you did.

You appear to have missed the point somewhat, which was querying your comment that "Gran Turismo has always represented fair and respectful racing" given that for most of its life it absolutely has not done that.

Online racing only arrived a decade in and didn't have a proper penalty system. The penalty matrix was introduced in GT Sport, two decades in, and has been complained about in this manner ever since.

Prior to that, across the first full decade of its life, you could only race against the AI (or in LAN/iLink in GT4/GT3; there were no penalties) and there were either no penalties or penalties that affected the player only. No part of that "represented fair and respectful racing".

Second, if this post bothers you, you can delete it.
I know I can, and I would have done if I'd deemed it necessary.

Instead I thought I'd address the points made in it, because that's what a forum is for...

They may, but we're not them. Your post was not addressed to anyone specifically, and written in a manner that suggested it was directed to us and that we should be doing something about it, which we cannot do because we're not them...

... which was the purpose of the first part of my response.

@fredoz how long have you been racing on GT7? What is your DR?
Just asking to find out your experience and skill in the game which will give me info on how to help you more...

JI am Dr. B, very close to Dr. A.But it's becoming truly impossible to play. I would have been Dr. A a while ago already.

Yeah, I misunderstood. Thank you for clarifying it.
