Can u belive what Ross Brawn said about Montoya's move on Schumacher at the Nurburgring last weekend. Ross Brawn said Montoya pulled a crude move on him and then said Montoya was not a classy driver. Did Ross happen to forget Jerez 1997 when Michael steers his Ferrari into Jacques Villneuves Williams. Or 1994 at Adelaid when he went into Damon Hill. both were title deciding races and proves to me he cant handle pressure

This is exactly what I said in the European GP thread:

I completely disagree. There was nothing wrong with Montoya's move on MS. I don't know what it is about people: as soon as someone pressures Michael into a mistake, they start assuming that the other guy did something wrong, almost like they genuinely believe that Michael is infallible. Everyone knows he's weak under pressure, and that spin merely proved it.

However, James, you can't exactly expect Ross Brawn of all people to hold his hands up and say "Nice one Monty, you really stitched our guy up there", can you?

true. but its great to see montoya back in action this year. last year, monty i thought lost his edge but im glad he got it back.

In the interviews post European GP, Michael said that Montoya gave him "a little breathing room. Not much, but enough. It was fine. I would have done the same thing. It's racing"

That man has class. I think in recent years he's become a genuine sportsman, rather than some robotic German Dalek.

absolutely right in both cases there mate 👍
cant wait for the french GP tomorow night, especially down into the hairpin (Adelaide is that right?) for the same sort of moves, hopefully its MS doing it to JPM this time

The French GP always seems to provide some sort of action. Should be good.

Schumacher is fine, i don't have any problems with him, all he wants to do is win races!

The only person in formula 1 i don't like is Ron Dennis (head of Mclaren) he is just a sore loser. He always moans about everything.

Go on, just for the fun of it, justify that post. I challenge you.

i like MS i don't see nothing bad on the way he is.

may a few people are just tired of see him winning all that races, but is just like mclaren on the 90's.

(sorry if i'm wrong i don't know much abouth F1)

So a five time world champion sucks?
I'm certainly not his biggest fan but I still have some respect for the guy. God knows what you think of the people who haven't won the F1 championship 5 times.

He might think they suck. :(

Well you can't just come out and say something like "Michael Schumacher sucks" (spelling errors corrected) without being expected to justify it. To back it up. To indicate to us what evidence has led you to the conclusion that he sucks.

I would say that 5 world championships, 65 victories and 1009 world championship points were compelling enough evidence that he does not suck.

So go on, show me why you think he sucks. It's an opinion you have, so surely you must have come to that opinion through some judgement call, through a mental process, through some form of cognitive reasoning. Because if you didn't I don't want to hear it.

So: Justify the statement "Michael Schumacher sucks", or admit that it was the post of a cretin.

I still carry a grudge over the 1994 (collision with Hill, team caught with traction control software AND tampering with the fuel rig) and 1995 (if they'd been dealt with properly in 1994 by the FIA they'd have never got the Renault engines) seasons - oh yeah, and trying to ram Villenueve off the road in '97.

I know I should get over it, but I refuse to.

Personally nowadays I prefer to see other drivers win, but I think Michael Schumacher has come on a long way since thoughs days. I mean look at what he said after the Montoya insident. I think he's more of a sportsman now rather than going to be the best racer ever (which I think he is now, I don't like to admit it, but he is probably).

Now I think of it further, I don't care for his stance on traction control (i.e. he's for it) either - particularly his comments that it would make it more dangerous, and that the electronics help to make the car as fast as possible.

I don't think Schumacher sucks but I don't like him anymore. After last year winning most of the races he didn't do Formula One any favour because it wasn't interesting anymore because there wasn't much action. Was it his fault or was it the other teams and their drivers faults? Did they do enough?

I really don't see how people can compare drivers because some teams cars can't match the pace of others, so here comes the next question What makes a good driver? Giles can you help me with this please.

I think what makes a good driver is their ability to do well in any car they are given. Not if they're only winning races in the best car e.g. (hate to say this but) Damon Hill was a good example. He only seemed to do really well when he was in a top team like Williams, yeah he did alright on the odd day when he raced with the smaller teams, but I'm sure if you put some one like Michael Schumacher in a slower team he'll still make the car fly. For example Aryton Senna could really make any car go quickly and he was a great driver.
Oh and someone who's consistent as well.

BTW don't quote me on my theory as it only really works in my head, and not real world. If it makes sense to you then I suggest you go and seek psychiatric help! ;) :p

I think Schumacher is probably the best driver alive that we know about. People that say he sucks most likely don't respect F1 at all. He will go down on the list with Fangio,Villeneuve, Senna, Prost, etc.
