How do you play your own music on GT6? It only allows me to pick one song even though they are in playlists. Could any of you help me on this one really stumped thanks

You need to hit square to show "all", don't forget to go to "Play Mode".

Now, it's not remembering to shuffle my music and sometimes it's refusing to play my music! We started out so well. When you go to GT Auto or something, it restarts the track you were playing. Once I started my career, it all went to CRAP!!!

I'm on a Super Slim BTW. Some say there is an issue with this model.

I have the same problem, it will sometimes play the default music instead too and sometimes even the default music won't shuffle.

I am having the same problem as well. I did go into the folder and clicked play mode and did those settings but when i go into a race 80% of the time its a song that is not mine. I also have the problem of it playing the same song in the race menu as in the home menu or right after the small game previews when your game sits there for X amount of time.

I'm having my own problems with getting my personal music to play. It's worked before but sometimes when I go into the User BGM menu, I get the error code I-8002B105 when I try to access the folder. It's really annoying me.

The BGM is broken for me. I just turned the volume the whole way down. It starts to play my personal tunes then just always plays one very annoying soundtrack "rock song" when loading races. Always the same song. ooooohhhh ohhhh ohhh

Only problem I have is that my BGM doesn't want to play on some races but others I can go on and on with it. :grumpy:

When your personal bgm isn't working in races, just restart the race. Whenever I hear silence during the rolling start, I pause and hit restart and it works. Sometimes it takes a couple restarts.

As CCshaft told me in another thread.

Repeat- folder doesn't work.

Use repeat - off. As long as the race isn't longer than your entire music collection, you'll be fine.

I have a few suggestions.

  • Use non-variable bit rate. I've ripped CD tracks and picked up a few obscure things online of various bit rates, and straight non-VBR mp3s will play fine. High bit rates like 320kbs will play fine.
  • Make sure that the ID3 tag info is in the file header. This is easy to check and update. Use Winamp and right click on the title, then select "View File Info" in the pop-up box. The ID3 info, artist, track and album name, etc, should be displayed. If not, click on the Auto-tag button, and Winamp will search the internet music database and plug the right info in for you. I think the other good media players like Quintessence will too. Naturally, you have to be online.
  • Some mp3s have issues for whatever reason. I read in this post at the bottom that those mp3s must be repaired. They suggest using something called MP3val available here, though every once in a while, it can't repair a track. I've used it on all my mp3s, and my entire playlist plays fine in GT6. Before, a couple of them loaded into my PS3 showing corrupted files and wouldn't play.

I had a slight issue with my game reverting back to the terrible tunes provided with the game after my first race with custom BGM - all I had to do was go to the Gallery in the main menu and remove every single song from GT6's playlist. This forced the game to only play my personal selections, and it hasn't had a problem since. There's 86 songs for racing, and it certainly seems to randomize relatively evenly between them.

Personally, I like some of the GT6 tracks. Daiki Kasho - all lower case in the game - is pretty darn talented, though maybe a little too alternative for some. I would point out that in the entire GT6 Library, there are a few tracks that aren't in either playlist, some from GT5 or Prologue. You can add them as you like. I like having those mix in with tracks from my CD library.

I should also mention that there are a few CDs produced of GT music from all games available on Amazon, ebay and other sources. You guys who want to reminisce the music of past games should check those out. It seems that most of them are from the Japanese versions, but not all.

There maybe times that somehow during the microupdate they either change or add a song and it ends up being in Race BGM. So if you are still having issues after a microupdate it maybe that.

I have not been able to get my personal BGM to work, so today I did some testing with it. Basically, whenever I have personal BGM activated the game hangs for a full second after starting the race, and proceeds to not play anything at all, or revert back to the ingame BGM.

I tried selecting my own music with any combination of shuffle/repeat settings, made no difference. Different file groupings and selections (ie. selecting only 'rock' music tracks, or a specific artist) had no effect either. Deleting the game's own race BGM playlist only resulted in eternal silence during racing.

After I had given up (but left my settings in place), something happened. I was doing a race, and had screwed up bigtime for a few times, and restarted a few times. At first, this did nothing for the music. Until the 3rd restart. Suddenly I had my own music, working! Sadly this did not transfer to the next event. It is consistent too: every time I start a race the music will not work, until I do 3 restarts.

The stange thing is, when adjusting the volume setting, the game plays music to let you hear how loud it is; the music plays instantly here!

The volume is yet another issue though. Whenever my own music plays either in race or menu, its volume is much lower, even when the user bgm volume is maxed.

In summary, there is nothing wrong with my music or the PS3's ability to play it, but somehow there is an issue with race playback and general volume of external music.

That seems to be what happens, that after a few restarts the music just works. However it doesn't quite work out with championships. So guess the silence for Championships are a bit buggered but meh, As long as I can hear my own music when there are endurance races.
