Bad news guys:

Source: CVG

Next-gen versions of Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 6 and EA's FIFA 07 will only release on Xbox 360, according to latest reports.

So says news on trade publication MCV's website, Microsoft has secured a 12-month exclusivity period for both soccer games, which apparently means neither title will release on PS3 or Wii. So, if that's indeed the case, Sony's and Nintendo's next-gen machines will simply have to wait on the sidelines for PES 7 and FIFA 08.

FIFA 07 on Xbox 360 is due to release in the autumn (September), PES 6 the following month.

its probably BS, just like the GTA 4 "exclusive"

pro evo 6, is the euro version of winning eleven 10, which is out for PS2 since april of this year (and its good btw)

EA sports does not make exclusives, most likely they are too far off in development, so they skip a year, like what happened with NCAA football.

late dev kits, its no biggie, i hate when the press does this without talking to konami, EA and speacially sony.

i wouldn´t be surprised if sony annouces tomorrow that "winning eleven 11, march of 2007, PS3 exclusive" (because its out in japan).

don´t worry, soccer is on PS3:)

you don´t need pro evo 6 if WE11 is in development. sounds like a desperate move by MS, speacially because both games are on PS2 and PSP

Yeah, they're designing ps3's WE11 (perhaps it'll have a name-change) from the ground up.

Oh no 12 months!
I really doubt this is true. Microsoft wouldn't bother to wrap up exclusives for the genre of games that the only people who have bought the 360 in large numbers don't care about. It also seems a little contrived the MS would buy the exclusitivity to both series.

I don't care if FIfa is 360 exclusive, PES/WE is only real soccer game out there IMO and I really dout that PES/WE will be 360 exclusive.:sly:
Still remember those painful years playing FIFa on PC when I didn't have the PS2, they have Rivaldo ALWAYS shooting with right foot:crazy:

Not sure of PES6 being 360 exclusive. It sells very well in Japan and as we know the 360 does'nt. FIFA on the other hand is a possibility, but as stated EA rarely commit to exclusivity deals.
If this is true however wait for Microsoft to mention it or Konami/EA.

Edit: A blog does seem to suggest it was announced at the GC at Leipzig. www.eurogamer.net
It could be true then. Thing is I'm not into footie so meh! But it does'nt help Sony's cause. I'll try to find a more definate news item....somewhere.

Edit: Yeah, it's pretty official. www.xbox.com No mention of it being 12 months exclusivity but we can assume that's correct. The 360 certainly has an arsenal under its belt. Man, the 360 fanboys must be frothing at the mouth!

Oh, and this thread should be moved to the 360 section.

Japan have had Winning Eleven 10 (Japanese PES) for Ps2 for months now so it's not realy a loss to them. I just wonder how different PES 6 will be unless it's just a major graphical update which would be good, or it's one of those inbetween system mishmash games that turn out to be a bit pants. It'll be worth a rent if it's any good but I can't stand the standard konami player database.

Welp i'll just go back to playing WE10 anyway because of the unofficial patches.

Also why is this in the PS3 forum?

An interview with someone from EA seems to contradict the news that Fifa is exclusive for a year -
Well, our Xbox 360 version is based on a completely new gameplay engine. We will release a PlayStation 3 version, but not this year. So two years ago we decided to rewrite the engine, and it took us more than 100,000 man-hours of work to do this.
Link
This suggests that Fifa 2007 comes out this year on the 360 and next year the PS3 gets Fifa 2008, I assume (though technically he could mean 2 years from now). Same goes with PES6.

By the time the contract finishes, Fifa 08 will be out on the PlayStation 3 with better graphics then the 360 version I reckon.

Personally I dont care for football games, but didnt we see screen shots of Evo pro soccer on the PS3?

Yes we did.

I posted these way back in May

Pro Evolution

im not saying this isnt true, but the shots were official and they said it was 100% PS3, so unless MS have just scored this deal (sorry about the pun) then its a shame, but not biggie for me.

i´m only mad because microsoft tries to make people believe that they are the only ones with football.

once again, late dev kits hurt fifa for PS3, and as for PES, winning eleven eleven (will they call like that?) already in development.

WE is big in japan, always sells more than a million there.

and on a side note, WE is absolutely the biggest game here in brazil. lots of versions with patches and stuff. i know a lot of people here that bought a PS2 just for WE

So does anyone know if the PC version will be a conversion of the 360 version, instead of the PS2 version like it was previously?

I've always associated Pro Evo with playstation...... I would very much doubt that sony would give that one up so easily..... besides look at things like the GTA series so called exclusive to PS2 they all ended up on xbox in the end... so lets say it is 360 exclusive..... im sure in afew months it would end up on PS3 anyway.....hopefully.....

What it will be, if it is actually anything, is that PE6 will be a XB360 game, because they simply couldn't start working on the PS3 version in time for a release this year. But PE7 will certainly be multi-platform. It's simply to do with timing, they won't release PE6 for the PS3 Q1-Q2 next year then release PE7 Q3-Q4 next year, it's simply because they couldn't do the game on the PS3 in time to release it this year. Same with Fifa 07, Fifa 08 will be multi-platform again just like PE7, I assure you of this.

It's probably because they are trying to avoid situations that EA was in when they launched a bunch of Next Gen titles for the 360 without any features. Simply put, development time just wasn't up to par, and I'm sure it's the same for these, they jsut want to avoid the bad rep recieved from sub par games when older gen titles will get more features.

Thing is Microsoft are being disengeneous. Have they actually got a written contract saying 360 exclusive for 12 months? Or is it, as L4S say simply all to do with timing and nothing to do with Microsoft suits? They implied (or perhaps the media did) it was some kind of shock anouncement that undermines the PS3. But it's not like that at all. They'll both be out on PS2. Dev time has affected their appearance on the PS3, not contract negotiations.

Konami
About the platform of Pro Evolution Soccer 6
2006-08-25

Some web sites have the report (or an expression which is possible to mislead) that Konami's soccer game "Pro Evolution Soccer 6" will be an exclusive title for Xbox 360, but such a fact doesn't exist.

We are developing "Pro Evolution Soccer 6" for multiple platforms to be played by many fans.

GC 2006: Pro Evo and FIFA Not so Exclusive?
Konami to Microsoft: "BALLS!!!"
by Tal Blevins

August 26, 2006 - Seems like there's a little confusion floating around the world about at least one of the announcements Microsoft made at the German Games Convention this week.

In their GC press conference in Leipzig that we attended, Microsoft specifically announced that the next iterations of Pro Evolution Soccer and FIFA would only be available on the Xbox 360 for the next 12 months. Given that their press conference was held on August 23, 2006, you would assume that means you would mean Xbox 360 had Pro Evo and FIFA exclusively through August 23, 2007.

However, shortly after the press conference, Konami denied that there was a 12-month exclusivity deal in place for the Pro Evolution series.

We interviewed Pro Evolution Soccer producer Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka today and he told us that next-gen version of Pro Evolution Soccer 6 would be exclusive to the Xbox 360 through the end of the year, but not for 12 months. He also confirmed that a PlayStation 3 version of the game was already being worked on, and would most likely be released in spring or summer of next year, although no specific release date had been confirmed as of yet.

Seabass also made it clear that the current-gen versions -- PC, PS2, DS, PSP -- will all still be coming out at the same time as the Xbox 360 version.

Konami Japan went so far as to release this statement (translated) to explain the situation:

"There are some articles (or some statements which could lead to the misunderstanding) at some websites and other sources stating that Konami's soccer game Pro Evolution Soccer 6 will be released as an exclusive Xbox 360 title. However, this is not true. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is being developed for multiple platforms so that many consumers will be able to enjoy it."

According to what we've heard from EA representatives at the show, the FIFA deal seems to be similar, and there could be a much shorter window of exclusivity than what Microsoft originally announced.

That's what MS get's, they owned themselves hardcore, now a lot of gamers are going to question their credibility when it comes to their PR and "exclusive" announcements. They've been talking on behalf of 3rd Party developers, putting words in their mouths and running with it, which IMO, is much worse than someone saying "these target renders are what we expect to achieve".

To be fair, Sony has done its share of lying, like insisting that the PS3 was on track for a spring '06 worldwide release. But it seems that they've cleaned up their act and are doing everything they can to give us solid information.

However, Microsoft seems to be helplessly stumbling lately, unable to find the truth even when it's handed to them. Or not caring what they say. This sort of thing is going to get them bitten in the end. Perhaps literally. ;)

on a side note... winning eleven eleven, the first real WE for next gen is already been developed for PS3...

and since this game is released first in japan, not only micro$oft lied, but the PS3 version will be released sooner, because it hits japan 5 to 6 months before europe and US...

talk about bad press...

Sony didn't lie about the PS3 being on track. The simple truth is that the Blu-Ray commitee could not decide on final specifications for Blu-Ray as a format, and it caused delays which ultimately hampered the PS3 progress schedule.

Though, it came at a large benifit to Sony, giving them the time to further work on more launch titles, polish launch titles, and advance their software development kits to better suit 3rd party developers.

It would have been very possibly for Sony to launch the PS3 in Japan in Spring, however they would have had maybe 4 or 5 titles total for launch, with limited numbers of consoles, but the delay of a final spec Blu-Ray drive, while much to the advantage of Sony and PS3 as a whole, is what put them behind schedule, and ultimately Sony opted simply to wait until November, which I think was a smart move.

their you go, the real truth from Konami's own mouth.

I thought something was wrong with the exclusive thing seeing as they have to do so little to bring PES6 here anyway. I mean they already have like 95% of the game made with WE10, all they have to do is rip off the fan made translation patch for WE10, add the newly promoted teams into the leagues, do some player transfers add some newer kits and there you have PES6.

Oh yeah also edit the intro movie and put some stupid song on it as well.

i need fifa to stay on the ps2!

Gamespot article...

So it looks like Fifa 07 will be exclusive to 360, but PES6 will be multi-platform.

It's only exclusive by default. MS touts this like they secured a contract and people should buy a 360 because it's "exclusive". EA only opted out because they jacked up with the 360 launch releasing sports titles that were sub par, so they are avoiding that all together this time.
