Do You Want Standard Rims for Standard Cars

Like many here, Ive been a fan since the first Gran Turismo on the first Play Station. Ive sinked countless hours into every installment of what I think is the best simulation available, and GT5 is no different. Although slightly disappointing, PD has worked hard to give us a continuously improving product and for that Im grateful. The biggest disappointment when I first slapped GT5 into my PS3 was the addition of two classes of cars; Premium, which I cannot praise the detail, and effort that PD has put into these magnificent models enough, and Standard; these while above the quality of previous installments, lacking, as obvious ports refreshed for the PS3s higher definition. Which is fine, I dont need 1000 meticulously modeled cars to drool over. For the most part all of the Standard cars look and drive just fine for me. But the fact that all of the cars in GT4 had customizable wheels, and only around 200 in GT5 feels like a huge step back. Hardly what you would expect from PD. Now I understand that rendering 10+ wheels for each car is a ridiculous amount of work, especially to the quality that GT5 holds at par. So this is what I ask, instead of giving us premium wheels for our standard cars, which are mainly ports of GT4, and GT PSP, why not give us ports of the wheels from those games, just simple layered textures, rendered independently from the car models. GT4 had a great style of purchasing, and installing wheels, you had a large manufacturer menu, and a great daily special of used, and hard to find wheels used from every car GT4 had to offer. Not that I need that, but would be a welcome addition to the simplistic selection of the GT Auto store front. So not only am I asking the great staff at PD for this addition, but also the community that loves this game, and wants it to be all that it can be to come together, and show PD that this is what we want most.

Edit have you done a search. There's not many petitions that haven't been done.

I dont care if they listen to me or not, its just me in this, I want to see how the community feels, and maybe if theres a big enough movement, something might get done.

Please try and keep the posts on topic of the petition.
 
I wanted to vote for a used wheel option like in GT4 but with GT5's wheels from all other manufacturers. Most of the new wheels you could buy in GT4 were ugly as.
I therefore voted to wait for better wheels.
 
If it were possible to port GT4 wheels into GT5, similar to how GT4 cars were brought over, that would be nice. Using the GT4 wheels with standard cars, and having the ability to paint the 'standard wheels' would be enough for me.

Premiums currently have a limited selection of wheels. Certain wheels can be applied to certain cars. If the full selection were available for every premium, that would be a nice improvement as well.
 
Pls god they need to make rim sets for standard cars. Just like spoilers they just need to make a basic set that all standards can choose from. That being said I would prefer upgrading the cars to premium in general.
 
Yes I support you.

Don't forget the ability to choose rims of other vehicles.
Comfort, sport and racing tires will have different rim sizes
 
I think it would be okay but I still think Standard models are just unacceptable in these times.

Rather than porting things from previous gens I think they should work on new things.
 
Yep im with you, just dump the wheel options from GT4 into GT5 for the standards.

I have always thought this would be very easy to do and a would improve the standard cars.

If they would also allow even just one standard spoiler on all standards too that would be great

I think this thread should be a suggestion not a petition though but ill go along with it

You lot really don't realise how much worse the GT4 rims are than the GT5 standard cars rims - PD updated the wheels to 3D for the standards for GT5.
 
You can count me in with this one. i think it should have been done from word go.... and also i don't think there is anywhere near enough different rim styles for the premium cars either. they all start to look the same with such a limited rim menu..... COME ON KAZ you can do better...
 
If your going to do a petition you'd be better off putting this in the Feedback section at the top of the page

I really would love to have the wheel swap system that was in GT4, that's already more than enough for me, for the standard cars.

I just want to have some damn used steelies to put on some cars. Like I used to do on GT4 :)

Well, I think we just need the rims from standard cars to be swappable between them. And as they were already reworked and upscaled that will not be a problem, I think.

Well I think the problem arises in that PD had to competely remodel tires and wheels for all cars. You'll notice for some standard cars, the actual model of the car may be low def and hideous to look at - but the tire and wheels are fine. I don't think you can just simply port GT4 wheels into GT5... I think they would have to model all of them all over again. It would be more likely they'd unlock premium wheels for Standards too, which I don't understand why they haven't.

Another option would be a used rim selection, like GT4 had - you know with the stock rims. It would be cool to mix and match wheels again. It wouldn't take any effort to unlock all the wheels. Maybe and up coming patch fix?

However, I think Gran Turismo's wheel system needs a revamping all together. I mean there is huge DLC potential here. Customizing wheels is important in driving games like this - especially when the game offers it. Something like this should live up to expectations.

I agree but the standart cars already have SD resolution textures, check some race cars, like the FALKEN GT-R Race Car, thats pure SD 👎
