Great video...definitely a great way to introduce a new car. I wish today's commercials were as good. Well, some are *New Golf GTI commercial*.
 
That just makes me want one even more than i do already, god damn insurance companies. The best quote i could find was £4750 :(

Yeah that advert is pretty cool like most 80's car ads. Volvo used to do cool adverts, now they suck balls.

Life on board the new Volvo V70

Bloke 1: "Heys why don't we live on Mars?!"
Bloke 2: "'Cause theres no air!"
Bloke 1: "Oh, ha ha ha ha"
Bloke 2: "Say this drive was a real stimulating experience"
Bloke 1: "Yes"

Audience: "Well I would of bought one before I saw that boring advert"

Sorry but that just doesn't cut it compared to a Volvo 340 driving out of an upper floor building (yay), a Volvo 440 being showed to attempt a ridiculous jump then stopping advertising its 60-0 braking performance, a 740 driving off a pier into a solid concrete walkway front first or most of the 850 adverts like it chasing a plane & avoiding boxes...

Pity I haven't found any of those vids on the net. Although I think I have the 440 one on an ancient recording of The Empire Strikes Back on ITV on VHS :lol:
 
I remember an actual tv ad at the time for the 205 GTI. I think it had the car drop from a helicopter (unaided by parachute), land on a snowy alpine mountain and begin to drive down the thing at breakneck speed. Fantastic ad :)


edit: oops, just finished watching the entire vid, and there's the ad i'm talking about at the end. My memory's not perfect ;)
 
awesome vid, good find! I've got an old 89 pug like the one in the first ad, great car to have fun in :)

/drives off into the outback in search of freight trains...
 
I wonder how many of the people filming the ad were cringing when the car crossed in front of the train. :eek: I was! :scared:
