After 2 years of absence, Peugeot Sport announced its return to rallying with Peugeot 207 Super S2000. The Peugeot 207 Super S2000 is based on a 3-door road Peugeot 207. But to comply with Super 2000, the 1.6 engine was replaced by 2.0 engine which gives the car a power of 280 PS and a weight of 1100 kg.
The 207 S2000 debuted on the 2nd round of Intercontinental Rally Challenge, on Turkey with a victory of Nicolas Vouilloz. The 207 S2000 has achieved 5 victories on 9 rounds and 7 podiums which gave the 207 the drivers title by Enrique García Ojeda.
On the following year, the 207 S2000 won the European Rally Championship title with Luca Rossetti and the Intercontinental Rally Championship with Nicolas Vouilloz.
The 207 S2000 has won 3 consecutive IRC titles: 2007 with Enrique García Ojeda; 2008 with Nicolas Vouilloz and 2009 with Kris Meeke.
On 2010, the specs were revised and the normal 2.0 engine was improved to a power of 300 PS and 1200 kg, which is called the 2.0 Evolution.
However, unfortunately, two years later, Peugeot Sport announced that its production would end because of new regulations.
The S2000 was replaced by R5 category and the 207 S2000 was replaced by 208 R5. But although that it was replaced by 208 R5, it is still on use by some privateer teams.
