This is the last group c machine I need to buy, but it has been unbelievebly frustrating to get this car to show up in the ucd. How is it compared to the other prototypes?

I'm deciding whether or not just to abandon it all together.

If it's the last car you need for as I call "mini colldctions" just do it. This is what I did with the Jaguar XJR9 and I'm pleased with it. I used a level 23 ticket to get it instead of purchasing. I don't own the 905 but it's always been an intriguing car to me. Looks different but I really like it. It's shown up in my UCD twice yet passed on it both times.

It's my favorite one of them all. Not the fastest going straight, but probably the fastest of the era in the twisties. It is also way better on tires and gas than any of the cars at that PP level except the 2003 Pescarolo.

at night it has a big yellow light on the hood. pretty cool

And the livery is neat.

Just stop looking for it, and when it shows up, buy it. no need to stress, it will show up eventually

Or grinding a ticket always (eventually) works.

@OP if you don't find one soon let me know and I'd be more than willing to donate you a level 23 ticket. Don't have an open dates until about the 18th though.

It's lightweight is what makes this car the primary candidate for doing the nurb 24 hour. I guess I'll just sit back and randomly check in on it.

@dylpro: thanks for the offer. My psn is usfstu18.

How do I grind for the level 23 ticket by the way?

It's a very excellent Group C. As what Toronado said it manages quite well with tires within its PP range. One of the strongest in its class.

Yeah, the 905 is lighter than any other Group C car by around 0,1 tons, making the car kind to tires in a run, but is yet below newer machines intended to be manufactured to be economical as well as for seeking better performance than ever.

Looks like lady luck is on my side. Did a quick license test ucd car trick to great skepticism, lo and behold a 905 sitting there.

I heard about that trick - how is it working again and is there any difference between that trick and a 2.5 min B-Spec grind on Autumn Ring?

Thanks :)

The car is great like toronado and others have said. And personally, the license test trick is faster.

Thanks. But it basically does the same; it refreshes a few new cars into the UCD? It looks like a B-Spec race (day) is good for three cars. How is it with that trick?

I think 'grinding' a ticket is where you

1. back up your game save data to a usb memory stick
2. cash in the ticket
3. if you don't get the car you want, then exit, restore the backed up version, reload the game and try again.

It refreshes the car list the fastest amongst the various tricks. Go to the licenses, load up five tests continuously, then go to the ucd. Every test generates six cars so five tests resets the entire list. I'd do this over the b spec way.

Wrong thats recycling a ticket, There is no such method of grinding a ticket, someone has confused themselves here, Grinding is constant racing of 1 race over and over to gain either credits or XP.

That. And compared to GT4, where it had a gearbox that sort of broke everytime you shifted, this has a fully working gearbox. Plus, as the last great Group C racer...why pass it up?

I just bought it yesterday, along with the VW W12 Nardo. The 905 is awesome, very light and lots of power turbocharged. It's very nimble in the corners, although as stated above, not the fastest. It's still fast though.

The 905 in GT5 is quite different to the 905 in GT4, just like C-Zeta says, in GT4 the gearbox was about asuseful as French Air traffic control on a summer bank holiday weekend. It really goes in GT5, deffinately worth adding to a collection. In period they were F1 cars with extra bodywork on, I wonder if anyone can get one upside-down at the second chicane at Monza, like Yannick Dalmas did in period, lol!

In reality I kind of hated the 905 because it helped kill the group c formula with those f1 engines. The FIA was really stupid in pursuing those new engine regs at the time. Le mans is all about choices.

A good reason to buy it... and smash it into a wall at full speed :sly:

I like the 905, but it's not as good as many other sports proto., I tried it recently on a b-spec race, decreasing PP to 650 to respect the rules, and I finished the race behind the Mclaren F1 GTR. Then I took the Mazda 787B, did the same adjustments and I won the race.

Oh my bad, I saw someone call it grinding a ticket but that is what I meant.

Mark is just being a contrarian like he is in just about every thread. Different ways of saying the same things. By technicality he is right but grinding is an accepted term by the community.
