With the standard, low and medium turbo, the peak power of this diesel racer is at 4500 rpm and peak torque of course even lower. This is normal and accurate compared to the real car.

Theoretically, you should shift as early as say 5000-5300 rpm in order to stay in the sweet power/torque spot.

Do you do that?

I found it hard and unnatural in the beginning, since I'm used to waiting for the red line. However, after a couple of laps I was doing it easily, although it required some additional attention.

Do you bother with this at all or shift at the red line like the other cars?

As far as I can tell, the acceleration really fades away beyond 5500 rpm, but maybe it's only in my mind. I haven't clocked this.

I shift on the redline always, unless it gets a little tail happy then I'd shift earlier to get the tail back in check but I shift down again and wait for the redline.

In my garage it says: Max Power: 735bhp@6000rpm Max Torque: 128kgfm@3500rpm.(not upgraded)

Anyway I shift at 6000. Seems to accelerate slower after that.

I've also found short-shifting makes the car spin worse exiting corners:crazy:
I guess its all that torque in the low rev range breaks traction very easily

Well, my my point is that the redline is full 2000 rpm after peak power. Shifting at the redline should be waaay too late for that car (unless you bolt a high rpm turbo, in which case the power/torque curves become totally unrealistic for that car). BTW medium rpm turbo is just 2 HP less than high.

Of course, the more standard guise the car, the better.

Fair point I just find that If I shift at redline, the power is instantly there. But, each to their own.

full throttle isnt necessary in each gear before shift, I shift 1st to second at about 5/8 throttle, 3rd to 4th at 3/4 throttle and usually with the right smoothness of the right foot 4th to 5th is WOT and 5th to 6th is WOT

WOT- wide open throttle

this is with traction control off

the redline is calculated to put you back in the powerband upon your next shift, so you should always shift either at or slightly after redline depending on the situation.

I shift about .01-.03 seconds after redline pending on the corner/car's tourqe line
