Peugeot has confirmed the six drivers who will compete at the wheel of its new diesel powered 908 HDi during the Le Mans Series season and in the Le Mans 24 Hours itself.

French duo Nicolas Minassian and Stephane Sarrazin and former F1 racers Pedro Lamy and Marc Gene will race the new cars in the Le Mans Series throughout the year, and will be joined for the Le Mans 24 Hours by former Formula One world champion Jacques Villeneuve and triple Champ Car title winner Sebastien Bourdais. Another Frenchman, Eric Helary, will act as test and reserve driver.

Team manager Serge Saulnier said that the six drivers had been selected based on a number of qualities the team was looking for, and added that the team had never intended to try and keep the programme entirely French.

"We were not looking for a particular profile but rather drivers that have certain qualities," he said. "We need speed of course, but also consistency, a driver who knows how to get the best from his vehicle in all conditions, especially changes in the track, whilst being able to master the traffic and, of course, someone who is in excellent physical condition.

Hmmm...heh, there's a "black beauty" for ya right there. I hope PD keeps these pics for GT5.

Nice car (and hopefully fast to challenge you know who) and a strong lineup. Other than Minassian who im not too familiar with, its a strong lineup and as good as the one Audi had last year.

Now that he's out of F1, maybe ill cheer on the poor Jacques.

I saw some pictures of it a while ago but it looks so much better in black. I'm going this year so will hopefully get some pictures of it.

I wonder if the black version of this car will be in GT5. But I can't wait until the next LeMans starts with the batter between the R10 and the 908.

Oh peeleeeeaase, how the hell can you tell that it's going to battle for the win, it's their first entry for petes sake, it's ugly BTW 👎

Not their first.

Remember this one? It won, Twice. Now, I'm not saying that the 908 will win because the 905 did.

They have a very strong and experienced driver line up. They have raced and won at Le Mans before, and they have all the resources. I dont see why things won't swing Peugeots way for sports cars.

The only thing that speaks against them is actually the car. It is so far untested for endurance, so they may have reliability issues. Their previous experience in 24hrs racing is of course going to help in that department. Plus they will have gathered alot of info and further knowledge about the car, by the time Le Mans and the Audis are up for grabs. As for now, I don´t know if there will be any Audi R10´s racing in LMS.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the Audi's are up for grabs. Though the LMS does contest longer enduro's, we have to remember that Sebring is the first event on the ALMS season. Sebring has long been considered a great test for Le Mans most notably because of its strenuous track surface. I've heard in the past that Sebring is a far tougher event on the cars than Le Mans is.

Cheers,

Yeah, you´re quite right, but it doesn´t seem as the Peugeots are going to Sebring. And if there are no Audi R10´s in LMS, the Audis and Pugs will have their first clash at Le Mans!

Just how we like it, Champion vs. Challenger meeting for the first time for the heavy weight title!

Cheers,

Sorry! Fixed! I was checking out alot of onboard videoclips from different tracks and stumbled on the 908 vid. Must have mixed it up somewhere...

The 908 is not as quiet as the R10. Has more of a raceengine noise to it.
