I went to see Phone Booth last night. It's been quite heavily trailed here in the UK, and I thought it was an interesting concept, but I came away disappointed.
It starts off well, but kinda goes on too long. It's as if the movie makers lost direction half way through the story and filming. It goes into this big lull where loads of inconsequential stuff happens, and it seems not to really contribute anything, especially the interaction between the main character and the police.
Keifer Sutherland is good in it, but then he is off-screen (speaking) for the most part, and Colin Farrell, who is the current darling of Hollywood, is not really any better than OK. It seems he is famed more for his off-screen antics than his on-screen capability.
The other criticism is that there is a lack of continuity in the physical relationship between the sniper and the phonebooth - in one scene he shoots a robot that is to the right of the booth, then in another he puts a bullet through the left window of the booth, on its way into the booth, i.e. the shot came from 180 degrees away.
I have to give it a 4/10.
