Photo Mode (Spec 2.0)

So, I tried to take pictures of my car & avatar, but I couldn't get my avatar to appear. I read the manual (i.e I knew you had to press triangle) but nothing happened. Do you have to be signed in for the new features to work?
And while were at it, how do you take pictures of multiple cars?

It only works in some of the photo locations. As an example I can make my avatar appear in the evening scene from a Japanese town with pink leaves falling from the trees. You probably know which one I mean - I can't remember the title. But in some other locations there is no option to choose my avatar.
 
Are you pressing triangle, after you've chosen car placement? If so, your doing it wrong.
You need to press triangle when choosing car position(ABC etc.). to put it in other words, you need to do it at the selection screen before being able to move about with the camera and all.

And you still can't take multiple cars with you in Photo travel. Sadly...
 
It seems that I can make my avatar appear in all photo locations now. I swear I couldn't yesterday. I must have triggered a rare bug or something.
