Photo mode update v2.01?

Firstly, my apologies if this has been noted, I didn't have much joy in with the search tool. But, has anybody else found that you can now use the magnification x2 anywhere?

i.e. not just in photo travel.

This is the first time I have noticed this since taking photos on track in v2.01, so I don't know if it was there before the update! But worth knowing none the less.

Not just a higher resolution, but a massive 3840x2160 image, excellent for working on Photoshop.

Just remember: GT always had this resolution available (though only on Photo Travel)... easy to access, save, export and edit with a simple USB flash drive.

Forza 4 just added the "Bigshot" option, that generates a comparable 3840x2160 image after a looooooooong processing time. The resulting file has a whopping 21~28MB of size (uncompressed BMP) and, to get it, you must have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, upload this file to the Forza server (takes ages) and then download it from the Forza website (that also takes ages thanks to a speed limit imposed by Turn 10 - 7 minutes to download this single file).

And you can send only one file at a time!!! You must download your latest file before sending a new one and it's available at the server for 24h only!!!

All of those problems are down to Xbox though, they don't allow simple saving to USB sticks for security reasons.
 
2x magnification was already in the photo mode...

However there's a update on the avatar when using them in photo mode... He finally has a reflection in the water and has a new pose... Where he points his finger out forwards...

I didn't notice it having earlier 2x magnification in replay mode too. That's good, shame they're taking forever to render.

And how about sun and light glare in 2.01?
I've seen 2.0 photos with sun glare and they were unedited, seems that is gone now in 2.01. Hopefully they'll bring it back, cause it was cool and not overdone, but realistic.
Do you feel like the glare is gone?

Yeah, some of us miss the glare and effects :(
 
Ive never had the 2x feature, or glare for that matter. My updates must have installed incorrectly as Kart space has disappeared from the race menu, the only place I can access it is online in someone else's lounge. Still ave Spa, thank the GT gods!
 
Wasn't this after Spec 2.0. Because, maybe one week before, I wanted to get trophy, when you must take a photo with Honda's car and Hoda's "home" on the Tokyo R246. And when I taking the picture I was clicking on the magnification and 2x wasn't available. So this is possible after 2.01.
 
Yeah, too bad they downgraded the lighting effects to pre-2.0. :(
Won't take any pictures anymore until this is fixed, tired of fixing the bloom in Photoshop.

This couldn't have happened until 2.01. I just took a photo last week and I specifically remember 2X not being an option.

Thanks, but yes, it always annoyed me that the photos had worse lighting than the gameplay, then they finally changed it and now they patched it back again. I don't want to edit the lighting in every picture I take, but without the glare, the pictures don't do the game justice.

EDIT: For example, take the pictures from me Jordan featured in the 2.01 news post (thanks again by the way). Without the bloom, they would look totally sterile and all the non-edited pictures from Kart Space everyone took now, look completely dull in my humble opinion.
