Hi all... I was looking through all the awesome Photo Mode screenshots in the gallery, and I had a thought come to me... Packets of photo paper that you can buy, specially made to size for GT4's Photo Mode prints. I think that would be a really awesome idea, as I have never seen postcard size photo paper... I know one simple solution would be to use standard photo paper and just print one photo on each end, but it would be pretty handy to have special "GT4 Photo Paper" already cut to size so you can just stick it in your printer and that's that. What do you all think?

You've not looked. You can buy all sorts of different sized photo paper. I use 4x6in (10x15cm) paper 'cos my printer has a tray for it.

Oh okay my bad... but now that I think of it, or more specifically, now that I think of the size of it, wouldnt it be cool of PD to include 15 or 20 papers in the DVD case with the game? But hey, I dont wanna sound like another "Wouldnt it be cool if..." guy... I guess its too late for that lol. *shrug* oh well

nope it would be rather silly. as paper is a consumable of the printer not the game, and a fair few people will never print photo-mode pics. GIVE US A KEYRING or something.

if wat is thought about the images showing a printer hooked up to the ps2 is an Epsom it would most likly that Sony would recomend you buy an Epsom photo printer and Epson photo paper, and in return Epson will probably do some sort of advertising thing for GT4, this is just an idea I dont know if Epsom is owned by Sony!! (how many time did i say Epsom in this post :dopey: )

It's pretty easy to find all sort of photo paper sizes. Just check computer or printer shops.
I know I'll be trying the mode out with my printer.

And With Epson making a fortune out of the ink, as there new range of printers which use chipped cartridges, so You Have to buy really expensive, Epson Ink as the Printer wont recognize non propreity ones.
Then The fact that the Chip doesnt actually record how much ink is in it, and the damn software driver tells you the cartridge is empty, when its not, (on my old epsom printer, I used to be able to trick the printer into thinking the cartridge was new and would last for ages even though it previously told me it was empty), New Epson printers are more devious and wont let you print until you buy a new one, which has a reset chip.
What a Scam.

Edit: corrected for Robin.

I know.....Epson is such a rip off!.....I have one of thier printers and I tell you Genuine Ink and Photo Paper costs a bomb!......The is no way I am going to by a 'special' GT4 Epson printer and paper to print photo mode pics!!

Why can't we just transfer them to PC as a JPEG !!!! ARG!

Robin

I used to run my old Epson off Non Proprierty cartridges at about a third of the price of Epson ones and like I said even when the software drivers would tell you they were empty, you could trick it at continue to use them till they actually were.
At the time it Finally packed up I had about 7 sets of non proprierty cartridges, still left, So looked for a replacement that still used the same cartridges.
I was Damn P#ssed to find that the new Epson range, wouldnt accept them as the chip reader didnt recognize them.
And then when there just over half empty it tells you, you need to replace them is Bull.
I now hardly ever print anything off on it.

At least you wont have to buy Epson Print Paper as well, unless they develop some sort of system where it will only recognize Epson paper :ouch:

Same here.....I always use compatable cartrages that have a chip to fool the printer to print.....Its a wonder how Epson Ink sells!

......also the printer lies when it says its empty!

I have one of thoes Lexmark X85 printer scanner combo's, it does the job. I see no reason why we cant transefer the data used to create a photomode image to a PC via USB and then have a small program to convert it to JPEG of BMP.

Surely there will be a USB cable to connect to you pc with software that makes the ps2 think it's a printer. The pc can compile the image with the data received. I don't think it's hard to do this, and there probably are already companies developing this sort of thing.

Yeah I know.........Jeeez Sony, Why bother putting 2 USB ports there if you aint gonna use them for their full potential......It make no sence.....the best thing PD could do for photomode is make it USB transfer compatable!!!

Or a website online where you send them. You sign up at GT Photo Online.com, sign up, then login on your ps2 and upload them to the website. Go back to your computer, sign in, download the images, VUALA!! I hope something like this is implimented.

That would be really cool because you could get the pics to your computer and also because you could have an online photo community where you could see millions of peoples GT4 pictures......maybe even monthly competitions could be held for the best photomode pics taken to win Sony and Playstation goodies!! :)

I have an Epson stylus 810 and its a five colour job, and the cartriges are not that bad of a price £38 altogether for black and colour from a well known store Jessops (uk store) and i buy Epson Paper aswell which i find quite reasonable (and im a student without a job lol), but the thing is im not that bothered about printing my photomode pics off anyway i would rather put them on my pc.

I may use photo mode, but it sux that u wont be able to transfer photos to a computer with a capture card.

Being Business owner i use trade stationary suppliers.
I used to be able to get non proprierty cartridges black around £8.50 and colour for about £7.50 for my old 810.
But my new 830 which uses the same catridges only they have to be Epson cost about £13 black and £11 colour, and when you do a lot of high definition colour printing they dont last long.

How does £38 seem resonable for ink catridges? I would say £35 tops for both. £15 for black and £20 for colour. Anyway, you could buy a cheap printer for £35-40, let alone a cartridge.

color laser's are the future, recently got one at work (Konika-Minolta 2300DL) and whilest the prints look great the toner costs a hell of a lot and the boss is whinging. if only he had got a Xerox like i suggested. prick.... save a few £ up front, spend more in the long-tearm

actually the black costs the most and colour is slightly cheaper, but i dont mind paying for somthing if its quality, like the GT series, i guess it all boils down to quality for money, granted Epson cartridges dont last very long but i would rarther spend a little extra on the cartridges and have peace of mind when it comes to the well-being of my printer, because if that was to go i wouldn't be able to print for uni and i would get poor grades  , plus i buy both of my ink cartridges for £38 :)

"but i dont mind paying for somthing if its quality, like the GT series"

i can't believe there are actually people who want to spend money to print this stuff out...IF you wanna show em off, keep em on the mem card (it's 8mb, soo oooo, that's about 2 photos ;)).

ha ha ha, code i dont want to print them lol, i just want them on my pc :)

I can't believe this is the level that GT4 buzz has dropped to, will there be special paper or not! PD please release GT4 as soon as possible and save these poor souls.

Thinking about what you said xcsti.... How big will the manual be?? With all the new functions and languages they need to translate everything to, the thing must be huge.
