Good day all.

Since I am all about quality, I was not happy with the results that either of the Photomodes produce. And since I am also a a Photoshop propeller head, I created a tutorial that may help some of the beginner Photoshop users a fairly simple way of DRASTICALLY improving the quality of the pics they have taken.

As the title of the post states, it is about Photomode / Photo Travel Image Clean-Up - getting rid of all that unsightly transitional shading that appears in most pix.

So without further delay, here is the Photomode / Photo Travel Image Clean-Up Tutorial.

Another great tutorial 👍 This one can be particularly useful in photomode pictures, since some textures are very very blurry.
 
Awesome tutorial, Vicious. 👍

Seems like PD used real images to texture map the cars. They look great while moving or far away, but when up close in Photo Mode, they start to show defects (like compression).

vicious ... do you know how to bend an image in advanced way?
I know I can use distort > shear
but I am looking for another way with more control

Kinda depends on what you want to do. Can you describe the result your looking for?

hmm ... lets say I want to put a sticker on the car where it has uneven contour
sometimes it is easy to do with shear combining free transform
but sometimes it is very hard to bend one part but not the other part

actually I am not working on anything now
I just want to explore new tricks that I may need it in near future

That is a difficult one. I have not really found the best tool for that type of issue yet. Liquefy my be a good place to start. Sometimes, I have to select only one piece of the image that needs distorting at a time in order to refine my adjustments.

JUST read this. New in Photshop CS2 - Image Warp
Easily create packaging mock-ups or other dimensional effects by wrapping an image around any shape or stretching, curling, and bending an image using Image Warp.

too bad CS doesn't have this feature
anyhow ... I will try the filter you have mentioned
but bend the image part by part gives me a headache

There is another one called Squizz for $139.00, but I can not find a working version to try out.
 
I will be away from my main PC for a week or so but, if time permits, will try and put another tut together while I'm gone.

lol.. you guys DO know why it shows up great on the TV and not on the PC right? ... interlacing.. the computer reads images very different than a TV does.. Polyphony forgot about that part when they opted for the USB-drive transfer-ability... they forgot to de-interlace the photos so you dont see all the jaggies.. o well.. nice tutorial :)

I guess with the PS2 showing it's age, they probably just opted for the simple "out", and are devoting more time to the PS3 (one would hope).
