So, we all love the various weather effects in GT6. They can really add a lot to our photos but some tracks look better at certain times of day.

I was having a drive around Matterhorn at various times of day and i noticed that some of the light changes and weather looked amazing so i took a note of them and i thought i'd share them with anyone who wants them.

I think it'd be great for us all to share our favourite times of day and our favourite weather settings.

If you share your settings please keep it simple, maybe include a brief description why you like the settings and you can of course share a photo.

It'd also be handy if you could use a similar chart to mine.

Please note that the settings i'll share are approximate. Change to your tastes.

I'll get us going by sharing my weather notes for Matterhorn:

  • Matterhorn



    • Early light - 5:50 am
    • Sunrise - 6:30 am
    • Sun up - 7:30 am
    • Golden hour - 7:30 - 8:30 pm
    • Sunset - 9 pm
    • Dark - 9:30 pm



    • Weather 0% - Sunny, Blue skies with mid to light clouds. Good visibility
    • Weather 25% - Bright, Blue skies. Hazy with mid to Light clouds. Good visibility
    • Weather 50% - Overcast, Misty. Decent visibility
    • Weather 75% - Grey skies, Rain, Cloudy. Limited visibility
    • Weather 100% - Grey skies, Rain, Cloudy. Poor visibility

    • Early light - 5:00 am
    • Sunrise - 5:45 am
    • Sun up - 6:30 am
    • Golden hour - 6:15 - 7:15 pm
    • Sunset - 7:30 pm

    • Weather 0% - Bright Sunshine, Blue skies, No clouds. Good visibility
    • Weather 25% - Bright Sunshine, Blue skies. Minimal Haze. No clouds, Good visibility
    • Weather 50% - Bright, Mid blue skies, Slight Haze. Good visibility
    • Weather 75% - Grey skies, No Rain, No Clouds. Slight Haze, Good visibility
    • Weather 100% - Grey skies, No Rain, No Clouds, Hazy, Limited visibility

I agree the Matterhorn is a lovely place for dramatic skys and lighting. I like it around twilight, or golden hour as you refer to it, with weather set to 0 or 25%. This is a shot from my first set there and i'm really happy with it considering it's unedited and i'm quite new to taking photos in GT. Brands Hatch looks very nice too at the same time of day.
