photoshop help: gradual fade of layer

does anyone know how to gradually fade away a layer on photoshop 7??

eg: in this pic... how can i fade away that last car... so it blends in with the black??

So you have your car on layer and your background on another. Make sure the background layer is underneath the car layer in the layer palette (the little window the shows you all your layers). In the layer palette, select the car layer. At the top of the layer palette you'll see the word Opacity. Click the little arrow and drag the slider to the left to lower the opacity and 'fade' the layer.
 
but.. i want gradual fade shannon.. so the black supra at the end can be faded into that black block in the background...

i dont want the whole layer to be faded out..

i'm done... thanks to everyone that helped me..

what i did was i went to gradient overlay... and i used black to transparent... and the unaligned it to the layer.. and voila..

pic is a big big..

thas a fine picture man...did u use bryce for the green and black abstract in the back? or all photoshop?
