When doing a burnout in GT5P does the car track straight or does it goes sideways to follow the camber of the road? I watch many videos of donuts and drifts, but none of these anwser my question. Here is a exmaple of what I'm talking about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlqIoB2I4BI
 
That road isn't really cambered, at all. Its usually just because the car has started to move that way and the tires pushing the car forward basically go the pass of least resistance. (which would be to the side if the car has already started moving that way)

That was just an example, really. Although when I borrowed my buddys '90ish Mustung, I stopped in the middle of the road and started to power brake it, the rear ran off the road before I knew it.

Well, I do know that in gt4, if you stop sideways on a decently banked corner and do a burnout, it will slide off the road, but generally it stays straight.
 
Yah, I felt like that was kind-of boring. I generally find myself playing with the cars then actually racing. Thats why I hope they changed it for GT5P.
 
If the road is flat it will do a burnout in a straight line (unless to move the wheel a bit while moving, then it will step out). If the road cambers off, even slightly it will step out yes.
 
In the real world a huge number of factors can play a role in why the back end of a car will step out in one direction or another under these circumstances.

They include...

  • Road camber - this however has a lesser effect on the none steered wheels
  • Left/Right weight balance - few cars have equal load from side to side (particularly with just a driver in them), resulting in differing grip levels on each side.
  • Driveshaft differences, while less pronounced than with front wheel drive cars this can still effect rear wheel drive cars
  • Differences in the road surface giving differing grip levels

..its normally a mixture of these factors that will infuence how a car behaves when burning out like this.

So basicly its like doing a one wheel squeal on a open diff, except smoke comes from both wheels? Oh well, maybe they will improve the slow speed physics in the full game.
 
actually all the factors that Scaff said "plus" the physical effect that torque plays on the rotation of a wheel. Its explained on some geeky Physics websites somewhere. When you launch a car (FR) the chassis usually lifts the front wheel in effect placing downward pressure on the back right wheel because the engine torques up to the right on the engine mounts.......yada yada.
 
well I am not sure if I understand your question. But take the F430 for a spin on the daytona speeed way with the inner field. On the first hard left corner, with enough speed for example 220 km/h and hard braking on the bank (still on the oval) then changing on the flat pavement during braking will certainly make the rear end lose it's stability and most of the time you will spin off in the sand or grass there.
 
I may be wrong but ain't cars designed to slightly go to one side? Depending on which country your from? For Example, here in Australia our steering wheel is on the right hand side and we drive on the left, and nearly every car I have ever driven slowly goes to the left, away from the center of a road (Even on a dead flat road). Aren't they deliberately tuned that way to avoid accidents if you happen to fall asleep at the wheel or something?

It spins both, but with flat level ground the cars go straight (in GT5P), turn the wheel or hit off camber road and you will be snaking all up the road (in the Z06 for example).

Obviously GT5P doesn't go to extreme measures to simulate small but effective things like Scaff and unv412 mentioned, but they do simulate low speed oversteer, on perfect road conditions the cars will go straight, try the same thing on Eiger were the road is mostly cambered one way or the other and the car will cross up straight away.
 
I'm dying to find out how GT5p low speed physics turn out.Cant wait till 27/3 (release date AUS) to put all my hopes/fears to rest.My benchmark for console physics is EPR so I will happilly share the the outcome on the physics comparison when that date arrives..............which is more than other EPR/GT5p players have done so far!
P.S sorry for the winge but i've constantly asked for the comparison to EPR and no-one has replied......must be taboo or something???????
