I would just like to say that this thread is dedicated to my Grandfather who passed away on November 17th, 2002, aka the worst day of my life :(

He loved nothing more than showing off his ship, the HMCS Snowberry, at local model shows, he never considered himself good at it, but was always praised by model builders alike. He never really stopped working on this masterpiece, always striving for perfection. He worked on this for years, I think like 5...

Someone from the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic wanted to put it in the museum, but we said no, it's staying in the house where it belongs, not that it doesn't deserve to be on display in a museum, but it has to stay with us, it just has to...

Anyway, I just got a digital camera tonight for a graduation present from my Mom, so I had to take pictures of this beauty. Sorry for some of the blurriness, but it was my first photo shoot with the Canon PowerShot A60 :)

Wow! That's one incredibly detailed ship. I would never have the patience to put something like that together. I'm sorry to hear about this though. I think my modem blew up loading so many pictures.

Very cool model ship man. Takes a person with a great deal of patience and dedication to build one of those.

Yeah he was a great man, always wanted the best for me. He knew how to do everything and I mean that. He could do electrical stuff, plumbing, he could build ANYTHING. I don't know how he did it, but there was nothing he couldn't do... :)
 
Wow, this has to be one of the greatest models I have seen ever displayed. Your right, that thing could hold up in a musuem somewhere, and I am telling you it would be a favorite of the fieldtripers.

I am sorry to hear about your grandfather, but that is something that will be passed down through generations to come. He left something really great to remember him by.
 
That boat tells a story not only about him but himself. He must of spent many endless hours making the beauty and it turned out extremely well - I great honour to have such a great Grandfather.

My condoleances to you and your family.

P.S. I like the fact that you had your Enemy At the Gates DVD placed in the background of one of your pictures... Unless that's just purely coincidental....

Holy F, that thing kicks ass! The detail's incredible.

Usually, I break several pieces off simple model cars I try and make.
