Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone on here is a pilot/working towards their license (certificate).

I'm working toward my PPL and have always been around airplanes--my dad is an airline pilot. I'm interested in flying in the Air Force or Navy.

Just wondering!

I'm taking Aviation Science courses in college and I plan to enroll in the Commercial Pilot program within the next year or so. I've had a thing for airplanes and flying since I can remember, long before I ever thought about cars. I don't have my education plan fully ironed out but my goal is to become an airline captain one day. I'm sure I'll have done all sorts of flying by the time I get that far though.

Im pretty much the same thing except i dont plan on doing military work unless as a last choice.

BTW, is that a jetstream 41 tail? My dad used to fly those in that same paint scheme.

Nah, it's an MD-80 tail from Trans World Airlines/TWA. Your dad probably flew the J41 for Trans World Express/TWE, the commuter airline group for TWA. My dad flew with TWA from 1990 until they merged with AmericanAirlines in 2001. He's now furloughed from them since 03 and is with JetBlue as an A320 First Officer.

What else did your dad fly?

Yea thats it, they had some planes that said TWA not TWE though. He stayed there and moved up to the emb145 and is coincidentally an FO in the a320 at jetblue too.

I'm halfway to my PPL. My instructor's on active duty until February.

I've loved flying ever since I first saw contrails, and I hope to be an airline pilot. I plan on not majoring in Aviation in college (engineering instead), because I've heard too many stories from pilots who have been furloughed and not had any other options. You can get your ratings without a college degree, but when you walk into a non-flying job interview with a degree in Aero. Science, it probably won't do you much good.

But it works for some people, and if it does, more power to ya!

I am currently a flight instructor on his third year of instructing. The airlines are just starting to hire so i hope to move on soon. Good luck to all of you that are still in the early stages of training. Its a very hard road but i think its worth it.
