Well, as seen on the calender, it is national pink slip day. Let us all take a moment and remember some of the past jobs we have gotten the pink slip from.

The best pink slip I recieved came over the phone while I was getting ready to go to work. The manager told me not to come in. I did not and next thing I found out was everyone in the place got laid off. . .

Who has some really good pink slip stories?

I've never gotten the PInk SLip. Granted, This job is my second job. Some guy was just fired yesterday, though.

Well, then post some funny storeies of others you have heard getting pink slipped. . .

I was working in a glass factory from hell, a job even illegal aliens didn't want 150 degrees inside around the glass ovens ,you had to wear a type of cloth armor and asbestos gloves, loud , crap exloding all around you. I made the mistake of warning the new foreman that I liked. that he should watch his back with management . the place had not laid anyone off for 50 years but my pink slip came in that friday with my check..a lay off of one.
Seems the friggin guy was the owners nephew. When I think about it , I should send the guy a card or something, he had to stay and I got to collect max unemployment for the summer.

I worked for a firm for 2 1/2 years. The guy that I worked for (in a branch office) left at the beginning of March. My work load dried up, and I was pinch hitting on a handful of projects, as I didn't have anything real to do.

Well end of April on a Friday afternoon, I get a call from the Main office. Boss wants to talk to me, and my first words were "Ahhh... I was wondering when this call was coming. So how much time do I have or is it today?"

Dead silence on the other end.

Took his words right out of his mouth.

He was nice enough to give me two weeks to find a new job, and I took less than one. On my last day, I split at noon. Later found out, that the main office Video Conferenced in at 3pm so that the main office could all say thanks.

The receptionist got a good laugh, as it was an awkward silence while the boss stammered for something to say.

Second Story.
I was laid off back in January. No notice, simply here's you pink slip, pack and get out. My response was "Ummm... SO who's taking over the project that's due to go out to bid in 5 days?"

Boss gives blank stare.

30 seconds later he says "Ummm... Can you stay to finish it?"

"Suuuuuure... I can do that."

I then left some seriously large loop holes in the plans for the Contractor to find.

Currently on my first job, so no slips.
My bro got fired from the job I have now...no funny story, he got fired for coming in late, playing around(spraying/dumping tire shine(very slippery) on the parking lot and cleaning bay - and watching/participating in the ensuing chaos(people peeling out, etc)), and something about driving a Pathfinder up the steep grassy hill from our lower lot to the main lot.

This mechanic at Fusz got fired several months ago for doing side work(working on friend's cars/other makes of car) while on the job...evidently he was working on a car and told the owner that it needed several thousand dollars for parts, took thier money, and never finished...that person called up at Fusz and caused a huge uproar, and this guy was fired right after that.

This one guy at Subway worked there for a year until yesterday. When he started, he wore an ankle braclet that told the cops where he was at all times. He could only go to Work, Home, and School. He was a registered Sex offender. When he first started, he was not allowed to work with girls at night by himself. Just yesterday, he was fired out oof the blue. Nobody knows why, except the managers, and they aren't talking. All I know is that he is now banned from all Subways in the family. He was a great worker and could do anything there. We assumed that he sexually harassed someone, but we don't know for sure...

I remember you talking about the second story before AO. I remember my long term unemployment last year. . .

A mate of mine worked for an insurance firm in Manchester Piccadilly, he went in one Monday morning as usual and the place had been cleared, all the computers, filling cabinets, everything had gone. He didn't get a pink slip but I found it amusing anyway, he'd been working for a dodgey cowboy outfit and he along with most of the other salesmen didn't know it.

I had one where I was working for a telecoms company in charge of a small team of 8, my boss decided to fire the worst member of my team oput of the blue just to sort of say everyones expendable, he may have been the worst in the team but he was still doing better than the best in some other team, after a long argument y entire team and I just did nothing, the next day we came in with a few decks or cards and just sat playing them all day, we did the same the day after and then my boss just said can you leave now. It wasn't a good job and 2 others in the team were sacked but we didn't care after that, we all ended up working together for a rival company even though we wern't allowed to for at least 12 months. About 6 months after that I split with one of the guys and started working for myself.

I got laid off at the end of May. I'd worked there for four years but had been sensing changes afoot. I'd just bought a new house and just sold the one I lived in. The timing couldn't have been worse. I was due for a pay increase and had been asking about it. My boss, the owner's son, kept procrastinating on it, which was normal for him. Then one day I asked about it again and he handed me my check, telling me there was not enough work for me anymore.

I really need to send him a thank you card or something. My current position is far better in every way, especially pay, and I'm better off than I would've been.

Hooray for pink slips! 👍

Come to think of it, I've never had the luxury of being fired. I've always quit, and found something else.
