Pit Road Speed

50 MPH I think, so you should be slowing down as you enter the road to pit lane and at 50 or less by the time you hit them.

As far as I know, you do not get a penalty! The problem is when you enter too fast on poor tires and B-spec Bob takes over. Mostly with the SAVE. When you go to reload your game, B-Spec Bob dives off into the wall or sand and never pits again to let you take over the driving! The race will be lost, as he drives around slowly with an empty tank and red tires!

So if you are going to save the game, go in at 49mph with good tires (1/2 or better) and you will have no problems!

The speed limit is different at every track, and also depends on whether there's another car in the pits when you enter, as well as if you're in the first couple of pitboxes. If either of these two are true when you enter the pits, the speed limit will be lower than normal. (me and a friend did some testing at the ovals)

Examples of different speed limits: at Indianapolis (oval) you can enter the pits at 160mph and be fine, whereas at Daytona (oval) you can't enter faster than about 100mph (may be slightly more) without getting a penalty.

You usually know if you've gotten a penalty because the game will reset your car back to the start of the pits if you fly in too quickly.

Is pit road speed now 50 mph? Guys were talking online last night saying it was changed to 50 after the last update.

Nah, it's still the same as it was before, though I'll change my original statement after I tested it a 2 nights ago.

The better your car is on the brakes, the faster you can go into the pits, as the autodrive can slow you down to pit speed quicker. e.g you can enter the pits faster in a FGT than a NASCAR stock car, as the FGT is lighter and brakes much quicker. So basically the speed limit will be different for every car, as well as every track. A universal speed limit would be much easier.

This is news to me, I've never heard of any penalty for pit lane speeding in any GT game. Unless you count the Tsukuba issues of course.

The real speed limit of the Tsukuba pits is 40km/h(25mph) but you enter at 80km/h(50mph).
