How do you know how much fuel you should put in, or do you always top it off?
The bar goes from 0-50 and the last time I came in it defaulted to 8 litres. Is that default all that's needed to finish the race?
I missed a stop earlier and it looks like the stop went fine without me, as my guys went on to win the race.
I've been filling it up each time, but if that isn't necessary I could sure cut down on refueling time and extra weight being carried.

It defaults to whatever it thinks is needed to finish the race.

In an endurance race it will be different. Not exactly sure what the tactics would be. But in a one stop race it's pretty simple.

Pay attention to your gauge and the number of laps ran vs number remaining or in longer races the number of laps you get per tank. You just want enough to finish. Putting in extra fuel only takes longer.

The FGT has a 100 liter tank and on the Indy 500 I was using all of it in 38 laps. In fact when I pushed it to 38 I had to coast into the pits as I ran empty coming out of the last corner.

btw it takes a long time to fill that tank. Seemed to be a bit over a minute.

Also less fuel means faster lap times (less weight), so you shouldn't fill it up, but put just enough to last till the next pitstop or to finish of the race.
