Is anyone using an LG Plasma screen, or any brand of plasma for that matter, to play GT4??? There's seems to be a little lag in the way the whole game plays.

The screen changes are a little slow and the gameplay pretty much sucks. The steering is slow and oversteery. It's abit weird becuase i can get alot of power oversteer when I play on the plasma, but when I play on my normal TV, there seems to be plenty of grip??

I'm using the AV cables. If I use some other component cables, or s-cables, or whatever, will it make a difference??

I really hate playing on my tiny 12inch TV, when I could be playing on a 42inch screen with 5.1 surround sound (gota love fibre optics!).

And don't think it doesn't matter. "Play it on the big screen! It's heaps better!" 'Cause, No. It's not! The screen, I love. The sound, it's a bit of a luxury, so I can do without. But, the lag. It really sucks.. It's like being at work and using the net compared to being at home and using dial-up internet.. you can use it, but it really hinders the whole point of the thing.

This is on a PAL version by the way.

One more thing. Does anyone find that the power and torque specs for their cars differ when in the "search/organise" screen, compared to the "valuation" screen??

Cheers

Well, I'm not 100% sure just what would be causing these problems, but I have a few different ideas for you to try. First off, try putting your screen settings (in the main menu) to 480i or 1040i (if you're using an HD tv), but before doing that I would recommend using S-Video or Component video cables. The picture you will get will be much clearer and sharper then it would be at the moment. Try rummaging through the settings menu on the tv itself, there may be a "game" mode or something of the sort that might make the situation better.

Although my next guess would be a bit off, as this takes a long time to occur, the plasma in your screen could be "discharging" or losing its colour, but I really doubt that. But I really, really, really suggest getting S-Video or Component video cables!

GT4 41.7% Complete

I noticed your from OZ, GT4 in Australia doesn't support HDTV 480i and 1080i.

I myself have stayed away from all Plasma, Rear Prejection TV's because they aparently play up with the PS2. I brought a 21 Inch flat screen sony (the most I can afford) and I have no problems at all. You might have to put up with playing your GT4 on your 12 Inch. :yuck:

2 things:

1. get component cables - no need for Monster, just $10 off ebay will work fine. Our PAL version does not do HDTV but component cables will look a lot better that the AV cables you are using.

2. turn off any color correction etc on your tv - i think it's call XD mode or something on LG.

both items fixed my probs on my DLP. I've stopped playing the PAL version because the 1080i mode in NTSC looks a lot better. just my 2 cents :)

Thanks for the suggestions..

I know that the component cables will make the picture better (clarity is pretty crappy on the plasma), but will it stop the lag??..

Where can I buy component cables for the ps2 in melbourne? I don't remember seeing any at EB. Would they sell it at harvey norman or something??.. how much?

I'll try turning off XD mode too..

Thanks again..

Cheers

Also, be warned, plasma screens suffer from "burn-in". And with the speedo and tacho at the bottom of the screen never moving, it could become a problem. It's actually what detered me from investing so much cash in such a nice tv, so instead i will be investing my money in a projecter ;)

would the speedo and tacho still "bun-in", even though there is alot of movement in the rest of the screen??>.

looks like no edurance races for my plasma.. :(
