As many of you know at Daytona and Talladega NASCAR use restrictor plates.

This limits the power to about 400BHP or so therefore keeping the cars withing a reasonable speed.

Unfortunately until now GT5 didn't have restrictors so I am really looking forward to trying Daytona with a virtual restrictor plate. Could be great fun online as it won't be quite so frantic.

400BHP?? I don't think so. You try to move a 1500kg car to 200mph with just 400hp. It ain't going to happen. Which is good since you can at most take 50% of your max hp, which with new oil is 447. Shouldn't be hard to find the hp you need, just practice on Daytona until can only do 203mph.

Umm, a solo NASCAR around Daytona ops out at about 180, they can only run at 200 and above in groups, or has been shown this year in tandem.

The restrictor plates really do take off that much HP believe it or not, well maybe they allow up to 450, but the teams state 400.

GT5's attempt at NASCAR is a serious embarrassment to both the sport and PD in my honest opinion - so lacking. I doubt you will see any serious improvements to this part of the game unfortunately. iRacing!

Maybe so, all I am saying is that now, with the ability to restrict horsepower with this new update, we can have NASCAR races at Daytona with the correct amount of horsepower.

Seeing Silvia's, Veyrons', Corvettes, Nascars', Taurus', F150s' & lets chuck in a Viper on Daytona running close at once will be intense...

Much more interesting than real nascar... Tttssscchhhh, burned!

Has anyone tried this yet?

Burned by what?

burned by his verbal assault on your sport

:) hehehe, i find nascar boring until the last 5 laps. IMO this would be much more interesting than real nascar and i'm sure 'm not alone

I believe restictor plates limited cars to about 420-450 Hp. I think it's roughly 475 Hp these days for Daytona/Talledega.
