Gathering interest for a playboy MX-5 cup Friday nights 9pm EST.

No Aero allowed
All aids off, including ABS
Stage 2 weight reduction
Chassis stiffening allowed
Racing intake
Racing exhaust and catalytic converter
Racing suspension
Sports Medium tires.

Make it more stock (no suspension tuning) and a bit more realistic (comfort medium max - no fantasy track tires on street cars!) and I'm there.

No power ---> more fun with less grip, some skill required even if it doesn't have 500 BHP.

I like 'regular' MX-5s, 120 - 160 BHP, not tuned like it's the Fast and the Ridiculous, like so many boy racer GT fans tend to do. Cars that you could, in theory, just hop into when putting your PS3 controller down,... unlike yer fantasy Ferrari. In other words, something that relates to real life driving.

I worked for Skip Barber last summer as a technician, The way I've got the cars regulated is closest to how the cars are in real life, and our school cars are almost identical to the Playboy series cars.

Edit: I may change the tires to sports hards depending on how much grip there is, not sure yet.

Oh ok, so it's closer to Spec Miata... I raced those in rFactor, yeah. It has a mod done by a chap who has one of these older MX-5s and raced it spec in real life.
But there's not quite that kind of cars in GT5, unless you'd count that dlc racer thingie (which looks a bit overtuned to me. Miata with a wing - meh).

Noticed in a Best Motoring Youtube video that stock(ish)/lightly tuned MX-5s do about 1:13 - 1:14 at Tsukuba in real life, so grip and powerwise it'd be something around that to get me warmed up (personally speaking).

I agree with the wing, but they're still fun to drive. My series is one of the most popular on these forums. Gotta mean something. :)

Sounds good, :) trying to stay away from dlc as of yet though, probably also a bit more 'professional' than what I had in mind - laidback low power street car type racing. This one sounded a bit closer to that.

The motoring time will be different tho. The Playboy miatas are almost completely stripped out with a roll cage etc.

Like I said, a premium Miata from the new car dealer with the mods I have listed will be extremely close to the real thing, all I gotta do is test tires.

I want to do Skip Barber badly! But this seems cool 👍 I'll definitely watch this thread.
