What are thoughts on categories for drivers? The seasonal events with leader boards have times posted that often need 24/7 practice to achieve but a lot of ppl simply don't have the time to sit there driving all day so they end up placing in the thousands.

I'd like to see a system where a driver is classed according to skill, experience & results then instead of placing 5,698th us part timers would have a shot at glory for once!!

Surely that can be done? it could all be linked through PSN & players could get automatically rated.

Thoughts?

Try the weekly race series run on here, you don't have to enter every TT each week and not only is there a fastest to slowest leaderboard it also has a handicapped results table for each event

So rather than having a 'rank' of 5,000 and people assume you suck, you want to be put in a 'class' where people KNOW you suck?

Haha c'mon now surely you can see where I'm coming from? I don't "suck" at all I just don't have endless hours to sit on my arse playing GT5 and getting spastically good at it, and I'm not alone in that category either.

The fact is that in a lot of forms of competition in "real life" sports (especially motor sports) there is a handicap or category system... if GT5 is a racing simulator then it stands to reason that they'd have something similiar surely?

Sounds like a plan mate thanks :-)

I see his reasoning 👍 so maybe based on previous time trial results have like different levels of driver skill in almost a league system? :)

Yeah man something like that! It could be based on times with racers having their overall ranking and also their category ranking, it's common sense really because why should a 5 hour a week gamer have to compete for bragging rights with the folks who sit down driving 24-7?

Take any world marathon: 10,000+ ppl compete but aside from the overall category there's a bunch of different ones too based on various levels of ability, it makes perfect sense IMHO :-)

Even if it is a DS3 and a wheel catagory or a something it would work a bit better. Also people that use massivly downtuned cars instead of ones that are just right for the limits set. How is a bog standard race car going to beat things like a 908 or a pescarola. :)

I did the TT for the Vettel and the other most recent TT, and I was placed at 70,000th place or so LOL. I don't care I'm just glad I got the gold and all that cash! lol I see what you are saying OP and for me anyways it doesn't bother me to be placed so low in the TT.

it's not that I'm bothered being placed lower than others it's more that there are many different levels of drivers & the part timers will never get close to the would be Schumachers amongst us & there should be a category system to recognise that IMO. surely the professionals would like their own category? it would add that extra dimension, it would be awesome & would encourage more ppl to try & improve too :-)
