Hey all :)

Just got DFGT wheel today after doing some intense research beforehand. Im not a gaming/racing fanatic or anything but i thought i would buy it to see what the fuss was all about. Got a PS3 so thought why not make the most of it

It was extremely difficult to handle at first, so difficult i couldn't even get a clean lap together, Spinning and sliding all over the place. Finally after about 10 tries, i kinda got to grips with the wheel, learnt the track better etc and i did a 1 Min 53 (Forgot which car I used) Haha  Poor time know.

How long did it take for you to get to grips with the DFGT? And what are the best settings to use?

Thanks

I got mine yesterday. Mnaged to get to 1:41, about 2 seconds from my DS3 time. Although if you do get oversteer you have little chance of correcting it. I think I span out about ten times on turn 11.

First time you jump on to a wheel is tough, very tough. But you will get used to it, and then you will go quicker. I hated it at first, now I can't use anything but a wheel.

Practice. Practice. Practice.

Agreed with Sure, and always always ignore the temptation to just got back to the ds3 for a few laps. Doesn't help at all.

Got a 1:37.730 . Iv'e had it for about 5 months... i stick with the top guys in the replays up until the last corner before the banked section then i lose like around 2.5secs there. I just can't go any faster around that corner lol

It took some laps to get the hang of my DFGT. After an hour or so, I already beat my lap times that I did with a controller. Right now, I'm going back to playing Prologue, so I can use my wheel with other types of cars.

Weird, for me I was faster with the wheel from the start. It just felt so much more natural and fluid to me.

I have the same impression even with my old 200 degrees Logitech wheel.
It's also much easier to apply correct throttle, which is very hard to control with the DS3.

Definitely agree about throttle control. With the DS3, it goes to full throttle with just 3/4 of the trigger pressed down. Wide turns are also a lot easier; the first turn on Daytona Road Course actually becomes doable.

anyone else think the steering is way to sensitive and force feeback is too strong, even when set to 1?

Whats the best settings to use when playing this game? ive played grid and dirt 2 and they are playable but i cant seem to do the same in the GT demo

I played GT first then went to shift. Both are very high force feedback games but I found no problems. Both on about 8 force feedback.

Make sure you are seated correctly. Arms slightly bent and not hunched over. It makes it much easier to turn and resist the force.

I've just started using a DFGT, and also found the FFB far to heavy. Set at 1, with power steering enabled gives you a very fluid feel on the wheel.

Interestingly, my DFGT time is barely better than with the DS3 for the tuned car, but massively improved for the stock 370Z

I also fond the FFB too heavy on GT5P. One of my former RL cars (VW Golf GTi MkV, DSG Box) is represented in 5P, and with the wheel / paddle, or sequential shifter, shifts for the DSG box, it gives a very good comparison - except that I never had to wrestle for control of the real car.....

When I bought my first wheel(DFP) 2 years ago I could't use the manual gearbox for 2 weeks. I thought I won't get used to it. After 1 month I was as fast as I was with the controller and now I can only play with the wheel. So don't worry and practice as much as you can. Good luck mate.

I have a new G27 and I have zero experience at all, just two weeks with the GTP WRS. I can't tell really, but it appears to me that to get a good, competitive pace, it will be a long time.

How is that happening pal? It is not normal. What is the difference in speed into that corner between you and the top drivers that you saw in replays?

I don't remember with GT4 but I got gripes with it now in this TT after 2 hours. Now even when I spin out its still fun sometimes to get back on the track or to correct the oversteer.

My Driving Force GT will arive today or tomorow and I'm hyped!

I jsut have a question for you GT owners, since the pedals are so light do they move around on the floor n **** when you use them? Any way of preventing it?

If you use a wood floor, they don't move at all. Mine occassionally slip on carpet, but you can find a way around that by being a bit inventive.

They've got a "Carpet grip" system, so they only move a little bit on carpet. :)

It's pretty cack if it's designed for carpets. For every session of GT, my pedals end / after hitting the brakes hard at least once.

It's desighned for both......flp down carpet grip and rubber feet for wood. If you have issues attach it to your chair with something, string, carpet, det cord.....LOL

Actually it's around 1.5 seconds....... it's kind of difficult to judge....... usually around 3-4 car lenths behind up until that corner..... but in the banked section i start losing sight of the ghost car
