This is another chance to show your creativity to the world. Think of a wonderful concept that would be impressive. You can talk about a low-powered car, glorified with new life. Bring back a classic (like if you seen the show "Rides" (USA) on The Learning Channel this week, this California team made a new-age Shelby Cobra, and it was VERY cool. It was badged as "Daisy."), or take a car from our automotive past and make it better. Maybe you envision a totally different concept from a company that may not have one in their lineup (for example, a Honda pickup truck based on the Honda Pilot). Share your concepts here. I'll start.
With the Toyota Celica in the Daytona Prototype class in Grand-Am, I imagine a car that looks as racy as the Celica DP. While the Daytona Prototypes look... alright, I can imagine this for a reborn Celica: think about a wider, longer, more powerful Toyota Celica. More powerful? How about a Celica with 424 horsepower, and a front-4WD drivetrain? The rear wing will be a semi-functional GT-style wing, so you'll have a show car or race car for the street.
I envision a Honda Civic, 560 horsepower, based on the S2000, but looks like a Civic. Only this model has a turbocharged engine (totally un-Honda), and is mounted in the middle, making this a mid-rear Honda. The bodystyle will be fluid, almost resembling a GTP race car, but street legal.
How about a Mazda 6 with the V8 Supercar treatment? You may not find this at a Hot Import Nights show, but imagine a Mazda 6 with the Australian V8-style rear wing, low ground clearance, and a 600 horsepower, normally-aspirated engine. This Mazda 6 will be reworked and modified to look as close as possible to the Holdens and Fords who battle Down Under. The power for this little Mazda will make it a contender.
How about some American muscle? Imagine Chevy bringing back the El Camino with the newer Corvette LS2 engine. Then the car-truck would look close to a Chevy pickup, with nifty styling that makes it more carlike than big, mud-slinging truck. This revamped Ute (as called in Australia) would re-remind American car enthusiasts of this car and its "rival", the Ford Ranchero. And if Ford follows suit, it will make its own.
How about the winged warriors of NASCAR making a return? Take a Superbird and redesign it so that it is more modern, yet still a reminder of the past. What Plymouth would do would be to make the car appear almost exactly like the 70s cars, only use more modern cues, without looking too futuristic.
