One for all you Americans out there. So what gives?

FX289 - basically Fox - have been showing trailers for this programme at every possible opportunity for the last 2 months. Apparently it's great, but was banned in the US.

Was/is it any good, and why was it banned?
 
The one about football? If so I liked it, it was on ESPN.
 
I enjoyed it quite a bit. Like most television shows most of the stuff is hard to believe, but I enjoyed the storylines.

Apparently ESPN had to cancel it because it was so controversial. It was based around a football team and chronicled what happens outside the playing field.
