I have decided to do a little customization of my Playseat. Nothing major. Just some paint and vinyl maybe. Sorry, nothing really exciting. I am on a budget!

But, maybe I can get you interested in doing something similar to yours!

I would also like the opinions of members. Give me your feedback!

These are modifications done to the A1GP Playseat

Did a scratch test comparing a sanded, primed, and painted piece vs. a primed and painted piece only. Honestly, there was little to no difference. So rather than spend hours of my time sanding I decided to forgo the prior and simply prime and paint (2 coats each). Sorry, I forgot to take pictures of this.

I wiped off any dirt and vinyl residue with 91% ispopropyl alcohol and a rag (didn't have any acetone available, but it gets the job done).*

I purchased Rustoleum primer and flat black paint from Home Depot. I believe they were about $6 dollars each. They had cheaper comparable items but the employees suggested these because they were specifically for metals and they had a quick dry / recoat time. The cans are taller than your average spray paint can so they hold a considerable amount more. I ended up using 2 cans of primer and 2 cans of paint.

I applied 2 coats of primer to each piece allowing for about 1 hour of drying time in between. I allowed for 12 hours of drying prior to applying the first coat of black and an additional hour thereafter for the top coat.*

(Paint is still a little wet in photos).*

Cut out and tested Forza and GT logo stencils (with my instrument of choice...) which will be used for later painting and carbon fiber vinyl cut-outs.

Laid painter's tape for a glossy apple red racing line down the center of all main frame pieces. Currently applying 3-4 coats (should have done 1 primer coat on top of the black before starting the stripe; where is Captain Hindsight when you need him).

It's a wrap! Well... Almost lol.

3M Di-noc carbon fiber vinyl. Ordered 8 sq. ft; still have about 3-4 sq. ft.

I was going to go with painted apple red Forza and GT logos on the base of the wheel stand / frame connection. But due to potential wearing from my feet going back and forth across the cross section and the poor quality of my stencils I have decided to go with this:

Hand cut; took about an hour. These will be surrounded by diagonal strips of the same vinyl to help protect the paint in said area.
*
I will also be applying various vinyl stickers to the frame and on top of the carbon fiber vinyl to give the seat a more "racey" look while still trying to maintain a minimal appearance.*

To ward off against scraping paint during re-assembly I added rug stoppers (practically just thick foam tape) to key areas pictured below.

My replacement tv stand and seat came today. Unfortunately the tv stand was one of the most pathetic things I have seen (why I hate ordering things online). So, I decided to build my own:

It will get a coat of flat black paint, candy apple red racing stripes, and carbon fiber vinyl on the shelves to match my rig sometime this weekend.

The chair, which matches my color scheme, will be fitted and attached to the base this weekend.

Done with everything except for wrapping the wheel and red accents on the tv stand.

I would also like to give my CSR the "Elite" look by applying the same vinyl to the face of the wheel.*I will do this sometime this weekend.

For those of you not familiar with the wheels:

Thank you for reading!

Really digging that stripe. How much horsepower is it running now? :p

Looks great man. I really like the Nurb logo you put on the side. Nice little touch to go with the red stripe. Awesome job! Playseat needs to take some notes. 👍

Ya I wish Playseat put out stuff like this. Lol. It would have saved me a lot of trouble.

Love it man, great work. You really made that rig yours now 👍

Awesome! I need to replace my DFGT so I can use a wheel in Forza as well as GT5.

Hey man, Im thinking leave the CSR alone. The silver matches your Elite pedals. It'd probably be more trouble than what it's worth to wrap it.
