I've recently signed up for iRacing and needed a convenient way to have access to my keyboard and mouse for the new gaming computer I just built. I tried setting the keyboard and mouse on top of the computer case but that was a real pain in the a**.
I love the small footprint of the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and chose that as my keyboard. Since space is limited I did not like the thought of trying to navigate with a traditional mouse so I decided to give the Apple Magic Trackpad a try. Both Apple products were recognized by my Win 7 computer although I did have to replace the bluetooth drivers.
I am very happy with the end result and love the convenience and small footprint that this solution has provided.
I used the following items to mount the keyboard and trackpad to my playseat:
Arkon Tablet Seat Bolt Mount (TAB-FSM) for the keyboard
Twelve South 12-1215 HoverBar Version 2 Adjustable Arm for the trackpad.
Both the keyboard and the trackpad are attached to the brackets with velcro. In addition I cut the bracket of the Hoverbar down to size to fit the trackpad.
Had to drill an extra hole in my shift mount.
