I have not purchased a new game system in 20 years, so it's definetly time.
I've read hundreds of posts and reviews on many sites and have not found the deciding information I need. My choices have been narowed down to either a Playseats WRC(NASCAR) / Playseats Alcantra (Black on Black) or building my own based on chilichoke's cockpit design. This will be paired with a Logitech G27 and a projector since I already own one. I am leaning towards the playseats to save space, but I'm not a small person by any means.
I fired up GT4 on a PS2 and was hooked, but there's no way I can handle using a gamepad to race with. Loved the game, hated the controlls.
I already picked up a Buttkicker Gamer2 which should be here tomarrow and really want to place my order for a playseats WRC because it looks like a solid design and does not have the bar in the way of your legs.
The problem here is that I am 6'4" and do not know if the head protectors on the seat will be touching my shoulders or not. Since on this model the wheel platform is mounted to a bar connected directly to the seat I would not even be able to simply replace the seat if it's too short for my shoulders.
I'm probbly going to end up getting the Evolution/Alcantara model so that I will be able to replace the seat with a reclining race bucket in the future.
WHAT I NEED TO KNOW:
Can someone please measure the distance between the top of the seats bottom cusion and the bottom of the "Wings/Head Stabilizers" ?
