I've played every Gran Turismo game since GT3 A-Spec, I missed out on GT6 because of a very odd release date with the PS4. Apparently the PS5 will come out "late 2018".

If GT Sport does not come out soon, I am afraid the same exact thing will happen as did GT6.

What do you guys think?

I'm okay as long as GTS has continuous post-release support and DLC like Driveclub and Forza

Sounds like a lock:
However, the report does not indicate that the analysis is information from an inside report of Sonys confidential workings on the PlayStation 5. In addition, predictions from analysts don’t normally end up being true. After all, it is just a prediction at the end of the day.

It just seems stupid with the PS4 Pro being relatively new. A lot of people were bitching about it and now before even a year has passed there's gonna be another?

Would be annoying to buy the brand new PS4 Pro for $500 and then a year later the PS5 comes out, potentially making any new purchases on the PS4 Pro useless.

It won't come out for another 2.5 years, the earliest. The Pro released three years after the PS4. There's no way the next generation will come any sooner than three years.

Really depends on how good Scorpio will do in both hardware and sale performance, IMO. If there's a major shift of balance Sony will have to take measures. Dropping PS4 Pro price might not suffice. "PS5" impacting GT Sport is unlikely, but whatever Sony's future plans are I wouldn't be totally surprised if it was the only GT game for this generation.

Dunno, how long has it been since a PS4 Slim(I don't have a PS4)? The Pro seems like a last effort for the PS4, like a "Slim" model. So, a PS5 shouldn't be far off.

Whilst the premise of a console generation is starting to wither I simply fail to believe that we'll see the next system release so soon, at least not quite as early as proclaimed on that dodgy website.

Polyphony Digital, worry you need not.

Even if a PS5 did come out next year I don't see how it affects PD, they don't take any notice of whats going on outside of their own little bubble - they haven't kept up with the lies of Forza/Project Cars, both in terms of progress and advancement in car games and release dates. They totally ignored the PS4 release date and four years later we're still waiting for a game.

The PS5 release date (whenever it might be) is of no concern.

That sounds like something Microsoft would do :/. But really, for one, Sony has always had the first-party support. The PS4's install-base is big and massive and very very strong. And console gamers aren't going to stop caring about PS all for a stronger Xbox One x Two. I think PS3 catching and surpassing the 360 as it continued to sell well in the latter years, then the PS4 obliterating the PS3's and the 360's first years in comparison are evidence of how successful the PS brand has been.

There's nothing to show how the Microsoft and Scorpio could upend the console gaming world. That's what will need to happen for Sony to rush their current generation. It's not to say the X1 and Scorpio can't start selling more than the PS4. I don't believe it will be a likely event.

They already missed the PS4 OG window, it would be really sad if they missed the PS4 Pro window... it should have been bundled with the PS4 Pro, look at the sales of GT3 A-Spec...

Considering Mark Cerny said making a 8TF PS4 pro wasnt financially possible in 2016 (practical price for consumers, $399), its impossible to have the PS5 until Sony thinks it could be powerful enough for that same/similar pricepoint.

Honestly, with Scorpio using the same Jaguar CPU, GPU (albeit higher clocked than the PS4 pro), Sony would look to make a 12-15TF PS5 in 2019 or 2020.
Its not like the hardware for performance isnt avalible, but they'd be dumb to charge above 400-500 dollars for it.

They know this, their not going to release PS5 until they can get the performance/cost ratio right.

And 2 years ago no one would have predicted the PS4 Pro either. Past history isn't a good predictor. When your main competition gets a year or two jump on you into the next generation that leaves you incredibly exposed to losing your competitive edge. I can't see Sony letting that go for more than a year at the most, probably less IMO.

No one predicted it, because it was unprecedented. That, and I don't believe Scorpio will change the dynamic. Xbox can't rely on exclusives like PS has always been able to. It's a major factor in attracting gamers. PS having the edge in first-party studios isn't entirely subjective. And that isn't to say someone hates PS's exclusives and likes Xbox's. And that doesn't mean I won't think something's wrong with that person. Some people don't like LittleBigPlanet! It's unforgivable.

Sony doesn't have the PC gaming link that MS has either. Soon Sony won't have the lead in console power for the first time I believe. Markets change and the fall from grace is often swift and unpredictable in the business world. Unprecedented things happen all the time. Remember when a cell phone was called a Blackberry? They thought they were invincible too.

Scorpio is going to be held back because of the Xbox. It has been said all games must be backward compatible so unless Microsoft does a flip flop or they have the HD option it's not going to that big of boost just like PS Pro.

This is simply a rumor. The report refers to a “next gen playstation“ but nobody knows what that means. It could be a more powerful PS4 Pro with UHD Bluray, it could be a portable PS4 like the Switch, too. PS5? I doubt it.

Scorpio isnt a threat right now for Sony. They have impressive Specs but nothing else at this point, not even a name or price tag. With such a disappointing line up of exclusives, all the power in the world wont be enough for Xbox. I havent touched my Xbox One all year, except for FH3. Most gamers have already decided for PS4 and i think they would rather get a Switch as 2nd console then an expensive Scorpio. So i would dare to say Sony does not need to worry right now.

Sony earns money from selling games, not consoles. They have a big installed base of PS4 right now, no need to bring up PS5 anytime soon. Long story short: GT Sport will arrive on PS4. Hopefully soon.

Yeah, they probably don't want a repeat of E3 2006. Which included gems such as:
"Five-hundred ninety-nine U.S. dollars!"
"It's Ridge Racer....RIIIIIIIIDGE RACER!"
"So here's this giant, enemy crab. And you...attack its weak point, for massive damage."

Despite technology increasing every two years, which that theory is stated pretty well. From your source alone, it would have to be announced a year or a year and a half to get a new console up and running. Plus, PD are the first to have the DEV builds of the PlayStation's. So, no. There is not going to be a PS5 "soon". Maybe in 2022 or 2020.

Ah, I remember that and buying one... and letting it sit and collect dust for nearly a year because it had **** all for games and PS2 had everything you could ever want.
