Hi,
Just started playing a bunch of my PS1 games recently more than any time since GT4's release.

Question and Topic for Discussion:

What were the best PS1 games, which games did you play the most, and what do you still play?

I'm stalling out on the final disc of FF7 (still not sure if I want to get to sepheroth (sp?) without the Knights of the Round summon.
I'm also constantly trying to get my Einhander to play (but that's near impossible).
Finally, I just started up with Bushido Blade 2 again (this one is incredible with the POV and my more mature game skills compared to back when I initially played through the game).

Please feel free to contribute.

ps. Let me know if there is another thread like this, I'm happy to merge this one with that one (I could have sworn there was a thread for this but a search game me nothing on bushido blade and PS1). :ouch:

which was that game that starred Bruce Willis? Apocalypse I think it was called. I played that game a lot.

Rented it once and didn't really get to play it. :ouch:
That's the right game though.
Did you know the original Tony Hawk game used the engine from Apocalypse? (I heard that somewhere  ).

Right now I'm really enjoying Bushido Blade 2 in plain old practice mode. Problem is, it's not going to be long before I get to Soul Calibur 3 and kick some tail with button mashing mastery. ;)
Bushido Blade 2 is all about paper rock sissors and timing.
SC3 has so many moves and so many techniques it is almost over whelming... I think Bushido Blade 2 may keep my interest for a while. :sly:

heh. if it wasnt for FFXII and then eventually finishing FFX, id reconnect the ps1 and play FFA. i never finished FFV in FFA because i went through a 30 minutes of roaming/leveling up only to die before i had a chance to save so i gave up on it.

shame my ps2 can only read DVD's now.

I really liked this one game where you went through levels, and you were on a "log". sometimes the log went inverted and you were in the inside... YOu flew around, shooting ****, jumping over obsticals on and in the log. Got you really dissy in the last few levels!

Some of these I still have, others are long gone:

Twisted Metal
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
Tomba! (rare, from what I've heard)
Test Drive 5 (see sig 👍)
Ridge Racer Type 4 (probably rare)
Driver 2
Crash Bandicoot series
Spyro series (expensive as hell if you can find it, from what I've seen/heard)

Two games I really enjoyed were Air Combat, I played that a lot and brought it again early last year and had some real good fun. Another good one is Formula One the original F1 game for PS.

GT2, a couple Crash Bandicoot games (Crash Team Racing FTW), and Spyro occupied my time for a while. Spryo was fun but he was pretty irritating. The series seems to have takes a totally different direction, and I still prefer the old ones over the newer ones (from what I've seen). Dragons weren't meant to spit bubbles.

Toca World touring cars is ace, one of the best in the series for me, if not the best. Destruction Derby 2, again, best of the series and still ace. F1 97 and F1 2000 by SCEE are awesome. Never get bored of GTA London either.

I never got to like Oddworld... I played it a couple of times and the way Abe was so useless just annoyed me... although making him fart was awesome.

Here's my list :
Colin McCrae Rally
TOCA - Yes I agree, one of the best
Metal Gear Solid
Crash Team Racing
Ridge Racer Type 4 - Still play it occasionally!
and ofcourse Tomb Raider

And yes I do play these once in awhile - My only gripe was losing so many memory cards with my saves on, especially MGS

nige

I would have mentioned Formula 1, but I figured that was a given. :)

F1 '97 - My first PlayStation game
V-Rally 2 - Good until it faced...
Colin McRae Rally 2.0 - Now that's a rally game
Medal Of Honor - This was very good, good enough to make me get...
Medal Of Honor Underground - Continuing on the same line, and still going on... I have just about every MoH released with the exception of the GBA ones! :dopey:
GT and GT2 - Do I need to say something?

I've actually been playing PS1 games more often than anything else lately. A few classics:

FF VII / VIII - Own IX, but never got into it. Have about 8 VII saves at various points in the story so I can redo the fun bits whenever I feel like it.
GT1 & 2 - Uh, duh? A lot of good cars that aren't around in the new ones.
Metal Gear Solid - I really badly need the old VR Missions game. I don't play the old PS1 version anymore since I've got Twin Snakes on Gamecube.
Driver 1 - Still such a fun game, love the soft physics.
Oddworld - I've got both, got lucky and found them in the store not too long ago.
Pandemonium - Anybody else remember it? Before we owned a PS1, we'd rent one a few times at Blockbuster. My sister always got this. It was actually pretty fun.
Street Fighter Alpha 3 - Better than the PSP version, as far as I'm concerned.
No One Can Stop Mr. Domino - Oh hell yes.
Ehrgeiz - Still trying to find a copy for a decent price. Not exactly a great game, but fun.
Crash Team Racing - I tried the newer PS2 MarioKart rip-off and it was terrible. This one was so well done, if I could have it with new-gen graphics I'd be happy.
Jet Moto - Hah, I remember playing tag with my friends on this.

Definitely the list-topper for me is Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night. I've been playing it almost exclusively for the last month, finding new things I never bothered with 10 years ago. Now that there's a Castlevania PSP collection including it, I highly recommend everyone getting it. Though, I bought my PS1 copy off Ebay for $50 and I don't feel ripped off in the least.

I got my PS at my buddies house but we still play it from time to time. Coolboarders was always good and we seem to play that the most. Other then that Destruction Derby, Jetmoto, and GTA: London.

oh man, No one can stop mr domino is hard... it was so discouraging when i played it..

anyway:

EINHäNDER - The Epic Forgotten!!! I got the 2nd unknown fighter, kent!
Crash Bash (no one can beat me at Polar Push)
Crash Team Racing (I got a copy of it and im having an extremely hard time trying to beat at Time Trial: Oxide)
Point Blank 2 & 3: (106 bullets in 10 seconds, can you top that?)
Gran Turismo 2
Rampage Through Time

P.S didn't i show you where to get Einhander, kent?

Medal of Honor-I liked the original more than Underground
Driver series
Army Men: Sarges Heroes
Ace Combat 3

There the top ones I can remember. So much water under the bridge...

Indeed you did, which I greatly appreciate. Only problem was that I never went and got it. That's it! That's what I'm going to do this weekend with my free time. Thanks for the reminder. 👍

When it comes to PS1 games on my PS3, I'm playing:

Driver
Driver 2
Gran Turismo
Gran Turismo 2
Toca Touring Car Championship

whereas Driver 1 is my most favourite :)

Maybe I should give Tekken 3 and Tony Hawks Pro Skater a chance next time ^^
