Sorry if these questions have been answered in other threads but I've probably read nearly 5000 posts since the Asian version was released and I haven't come across any answers yet. So anyway, here goes...

1. The first question relates to the adjustable difficulty of opponents. I've seen the translated option menu in Arcade Mode that allows you to select your "enemies" and I've heard the Family Cup races use a similar feature. So my question is whether raising that just raises the competitiveness of normal cars or if it actually substitutes them with faster machines. So either they make some hardcore S2000s or they put in some RGTs instead.

2. Does changing the oil immediately after purchase of a vehicle have the same effect it did in GT3 (ie, more horsepower)?

3. If you fail to succeed on a Mission Hall event, does that count as a loss in your winning ratio?

4. I was just wondering what changing the map, info, and steering display does.

I noticed some people were talking about the lame speedometer in the 3rd-person view and I was just wondering if changing the info display would change that.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: one more question. Do the colors and availability of cars in the used sections fluctuate? Like, if I'm looking for a silver AWII MR2 and it isn't there at the beginning of the game, is it likely that I just need to keep checking back later?

Got your PM, so here i am :)

1. The higher the difficulty, the better the opponent cars are, not skill.

2. Yes

3. No

4. Map display turns off the course map. Info and steering I havn't checked, but i'm sure it won't be anything special.

Thank you so much! I'm really stoked that the Mission Hall events won't hurt your percentage. And if you ever experiment with the info/steering settings, please let me know.

Steering options was asked before and I had posted an answer (with pictures) some days ago

For the info display, the gravity indicator will not be shown if you choose simple, it will show again in normal.

gday mclaren its GRANTURISMO4 from sc.net

concerning the level of difficulty/enemy, i find it quite hard above +2 handicap!
however on nurburgring with anything less than 0 and tcs/asm off, i find it extrememly hard mostly due to spin outs/crashes..
if anything i try to use underpowered cars to create more of a challenge for myself...

nimbus

What exactly is a +2 handicap? Does that mean they're two steps higher on the "totem pole" or does that mean they're actually less competitive? And how many degrees are there on each side of zero?

as said above, skill does not improve, cars improve
so say if i drive a 0 handicap with an mx5, i will be up against cars of that calibur
if i drive a +2 handicap i might come across say something faster e.g m5 or something
i think it goes up to 5 on either side...cant remember from the top of my head

I think I finally might be able to forgive PD for omitting garage battles because this new option basically sounds like the reinvention of my all time favorite GT feature; the Event Generator from GT2.

from my early observations, it seems that the cars rotate slowly...
i doubt u will find what ur after...but thats from what ive seen so far in the game...
btw, where can the event generator be found?

The color of the second hand cars do change.

New cars are replaced everyday. So be sure to check out your favourite car plus your favourite color!

Where was the "Event Generator" in GT2 - I don't remember ever seeing it
I'm going to try to do this from memory. The Event Generator was what you unlocked by completing all of the regional events. So you know that page of races that had individual Japanese/American/German events? Once you beat those it went to the next page which was by hemisphere, then the last page which was the World Cup. There was a little ---> that popped up after you beat that which allowed you to get to the Event Generator. It's a little difficult to explain but I hope that helps.
