Hi all,

I am posting here to see how many people would like to compete in a proper endurance series where all races will be a minimum of 4 hours long :nervous:. This is just something I would like to do and will take a lot of planing and working with any drivers that apply to make sure races are held at convenient times for everyone involved.

I see people are already hosting 'endurance' series here on GTP but I have the problem that the real WEC has it's shortest race of 6 hours long and the longest I can find seems to be up to 4 hours (with the average being 2-3 hours), in my opinion this is not true endurance 👎.

Please post your thoughts and suggestions (both good and bad) and I will see how far I can take this 👍

I will host this myself if there is enough interest, but I will need help with cars, tracks, ETC. as I have not hosted a full successful series yet :)

Something I'd do if there were 16 people that would have the time to do that.
But a lot of people, like myself, just don't.

My thinking is that we actually need 32 people (making it even harder) having time as I would like people to have 2+ driver teams driving the same car (as in actual endurance racing). This is why I have started this thread to 'test the water' as myself and my brother would like to do it so there is the 1st team.

Just need to try and find 15 others with a friend or family member that would like to do this and then I will try to arrange the races with all the drivers in an attempt to make the races timed for all to attend easily.

Come on guys...........

I can't be the only person in the world here on GTP that wants to do some proper endurance racing and can get more than one person to the same place at the same time to race :indiff:

The tracks I would use are all the tracks that have the change weather feature so that weather could always be an issue.

These are:
Suzuka
De La Sarthe
Nurburgring (24h)
Monza
High Speed ring
Spa

1st series would be single class as I haven't hosted a successful series so couldn't make up PRO and AM classes too easily.

I would like to use GT race cars but don't know where to start with what cars in the class are best to use or how to balance them properly.

Also looks like I will need to drop the race time as there isn't much interest in long races with multiple drivers per car :( This is something I will have to decide depending on interest.

Any thoughts and/or suggestions will be appreciated 👍 :)

You're not. I'm just not able to the races.

I'm interested, but the reason why you're not going to get a lot of people signing up for this is that in the fast paced world of today, you're not going to find many people that can regularly give up 6 hours of their day considering that about 8-10 is reserved for sleep/rest and a further 6-8 for school/work (not including overtime).

I think I could race, but it would require a lot of planning to make sure that everyone can make it 👍 .

I am going to try and arrange the races (as close as I can) to suit all drivers signed up

I am willing to take time to make sure I have everything right and 'TRY!' to get interest 1st then get people signed up before working out times/dates that will work for all the drivers taking part so that anyone signed up 'should' be able to attend all races.

I am sure that out of the drivers here on GTP there are plenty that could have a whole day for GT to have one epic (I hope) race

EDIT: also if everyone can only have 1 driver per car and is unable to find a team mate that they can get to the same location to race then I will reduce the race time as more than 4 hours will be too much in 1 sitting for any single driver :)

Although this idea may sound stupid, it really isn't when you think about it.
How about you have a 9-hour race... split up into 3, 3 hour segments with a 15 minute intermission in between segments. This way you could have teams of three over the internet.
Once the segment is over, and the 180 sec race delay is finished... you factor in the margin of victory in the first segment.
So if Player A was 25 seconds behind Player B in segment 1, then Player A's teammate finishes 15 seconds ahead of Player B's teammate, Player A's other teammate would still have to beat Player B's other teammate by another 10 seconds in segment 3 in order to win.
the 15 minutes is to figure out the margins of the GT class... if you have one.
If you're going for a WEC type race and an 8/8 class distribution, I suggest this car list.
LMP
BMW V12 LMR
Toyota GT-ONE TS020
Audi R8 '01
Bentley Speed 8
Pescarolo Courage C60 '03
Pescarolo Courage C60 '04
Audi R8 '05
Peugeot 908 HDi FAP

LMGT
Dodge Viper GTS-R Team Oreca #51
Pagani Zonda LM
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 RM
Mazda RX-7 LM
Lamborghini NOMAD Diablo GT
Honda NSX-R LM
BMW M3 GTR
Nissan 350Z LM

That sounds like a very interesting idea and could work but I see 1 flaw :(

Often in a 3 hour race there will be drivers that even with a 180 sec finish timer wont actually get to the line and therefore there is no way of calculating the split time :indiff:

Also because teams will be driving from different profiles they have the freedom of having a different setup on each car taking away some of the fun of sharing a car :indiff:

The car list looks like a very nice set of cars
I would probably add:
not sure exact models and would like to use premium if I can so cars are easier for people to get but don't have time to get onto GT at the moment to see what there is
Nissan GT-R
Ford GT

The usage of either Ford GT is a huge mistake as it completely outclasses every GT car in the game, and it nearly competes easily with the homologation prototype cars. I've got a well tuned XJ220 and even THAT has a rough time keeping up with a STOCK Ford GT with the same weight and 50 less horsepower.
Again, either GT-R would be a huge mistake as the premium one is 4WD and the GT-R Concept LM is just plain BS.

Plus lapped cars will just be counted as -1 Lap, -2 laps, -3 laps, and so on.
That's why you have a 15 to 30 min intermission to look at replays.

Hmm fair enough, like I said I don't really know where to start myself but your list looks interesting but I think is made up mostly of standard cars (I could be wrong).

For now though I think cars are low on the agenda as need to get more interest and pending on GT6 being on time I would most probably host on there :)

Just need enough people to show interest with either 2+ drivers per car or even 1 would do (although would mean shorter races) for me to start really working on the rest of the details 👍 :)

Yeah... but there is one premium car in each class.
908 for LMP and ZR1 RM for LMGT

Fair enough will figure cars out when I get a chance to get on the game, have a look at what premium race cars there are.

Do you know the balanced specs for the cars on your list?

Also out of interest as you haven't said anywhere and I haven't asked, can you get 2 drivers together?

Well Mikey, I´m one of those drivers who can´t get enough of racing :D
So of course I´d like to join those endurance races!
I would personally fill the grid with GT cars and a pp limit, how we are already doing it in your championship. So cars can have advantages and disadvantages depending on the track, I think that´s very interesting :)

👍 well at least interest is growing :)

I am trying to find people that have at least 1 friend that can come round their house to race :indiff: as I would like to have a proper as real as possible, multi driver per car team event, if possible :scared:

If not then will be along the lines of what we are doing now ;)

As far as on one account? No. Over PSN? Yes.
And no, I don't have specs, but I do have a rough idea for how the LMPs should be.
Also, don't ever use PP unless it's a spec race. TS020 will dominate LMP and NSX-R likewise for GT.

OK so I think as expected we will have to run with the normal 1 driver per car :( shame really as I think it would be good although difficult.

So next question is, what is the longest people feel they could race for non stop? 👍

Also thoughts on the tracks i posted?

Hi Mick well me on my own the most hours iv done non stop is 32 hours and I think sticking to the real tracks is a good idea.

32 hours!!! ARE YOU INSANE

Yea I agree on the tracks the real ones would be best 👍

OK so I have been on GT and looked through the premium car dealership and although I have had the game almost since it came out I was still surprised how many race cars there actually are to chose from

I know not all the cars on the list are going to make it as there are some that could never reach the correct specs and again haven't looked into what cars can get to spec and what can't (or even looked into what the correct spec should be).

I think all the LMP cars once spec'd and balanced will be OK but there are a lot of the GTE cars that need to go and the rest needs to be spec'd and balanced.

So here is the list of cars that I will take into consideration (not all, in fact very few) will make it to the final list 👍

* cars that without checking I would guess can't get to correct specs!

LMP:
Audi R10 TDi Race car '10
Peugeot 908 HDi FAP Team Oreca Matmut '10
Peugeot 908 HDi FAP Team Peugeot Total '10

GTE:
GT by Citroen Race Car * too fast
Epson NSX '08
Arta NSX '06
Raybrig NSX '06
Takata Done NSX '06
Weider HSV-010 (super GT) '11
Weds sport IS350 '08
IS F Racing concept '08
Bandai Direzza SC430 '06
Eneos SC430 '08
Denso Dunlop Sard SC430 '08
Petronas Tom's SC430 '08
GT-R N24 Schluze Motorsport '11
GT-R N24 GT Academy '12
Motul Autech GT-R '08
Woodone Advan Clarion GT-R '08
Calsonic Impul GT-R '08
Xanavi Nismo GT-R '08
Yellowhat YMS Tomica GT-R '08
Xanavi Nismo Z '06
Cusco Dunlop Subaru Impreza '08 *too slow
Yellowhat YMS Supra '05
Castrol Tom's Supra '97
Arta Garaiya '08
Dunlop ER34 Skyline '07
Ford GT LM spec II Test Car
Amemiya FD3S RX-7
Amemiya Aspara Drink RX7 '06

DLC TC:
Impreza TC
RX7 TC
Evo X TC
GT-R 32 TC
GT-R 33 TC
GT-R 34 TC
GT-R 35 TC

Then there are the RM cars to account for although at this point I have not looked into what exactly is available but I think we have enough to make a start 👍

If anyone knows for fact other cars that could not get to spec please say so I can narrow down the list to just the cars that can race each other :) I think pace wise I would like somewhere in the middle of the GTE cars rather than sll the fastest or all the slowest. 👍

When I get some time I will get back on the game and test and balance some cars but you will need to be patient as I am currently tied up with other series so my in game time is very limited and in that time I need to try to test and tune for up-coming races 👍

Also in regards to tracks I have taken out the list the GT only tracks leaving just 6 :(

That is not enough for my liking! I would like 10. So I will also ask you all to recommend tracks that you all enjoy racing on as all my favorites are already there (in fact take HSR out and you have my top 5 )

I would perhaps add:
Cote d'Azur
Laguna Seca Raceway
Road course - Indy
Fuji Speedway

One thing that popped to mind tonight while watching the highlights of the Blancpain endurance series Spa 24hour, very few of the above cars are currently racing.

I the blancpain there is:
Audi R8
Nissan GT-R
Lambourghini Gallardo
BMW Z4M
Porsche 977
McLaren MP4-12C
Mercedes SLS
Ferrari 458 Italia

💡

all these cars can be found in the dealership with the exception of he porsche and I'm sure could all be balanced with eachother (most are at 550pp though wont do that way).

This is a thought as I may use these cars and make it a GTE championship if people would prefer?

Hi Mick I was wondering if we could use more sport or comfort tyres for street cars and racing hard tyres for race cars as the racing soft tyres have too much grip and are a bit to easy to drive.Your Thoughts mate
Also I was thinking a good race is the premium Mitsubishi evo9 vs the Subaru 05 wrx impreza 500PP Sport hard, medium or soft tyres for mini pre endurance race series maybe just an idea.

There's already a WEC series on here. Two if you count the Rising Stars series.

This is just an ideas tread and so what there can be 3 World La Mans series it don't matter also Mick just throwing ideas around at the moment that's all.

If we use the road car version of current GTE race cars then yes I would probably use either the racing medium or the hard and state all aero parts to make them as close to the real thing 👍 I won't be using race cars and street cars on the same teack for an endurance event, that could be disasterous

As for a mini evo/scooby series (I assume that you mean a support series) I think that getting the main event working will take up too much of my time to think about a support series, maybe once I have had more practice runnibg these things and found any time saving shortcuts :)

If you read the OP again you will see why I have opened this thread 👍
Also this won't be running at the same time, am thinking of trying to start when they have finished (as I have series running till close to that anyway) and will run past the release date of GT6 so there is still a series running while everyone else is planing the next gen series :)

OK so I just popped back onto GT to check what specs the GTE(road car version) cars run at standard and they all seem quite close as standard :) 👍

NOT FINAL SPEC!!! STANDARD FROM DEALERSHIP!!!

458 Italia 562BHP ????KGS 558PP
GT-R 542BHP 1730KGS 545PP
V12 Vantage 509BHP 1680KGS 521PP
R8 5.2 517BHP 1620KGS 539PP
Gallardo 552BHP 1410KGS 546PP
MP4-12C 591BHP 1350KGS 566PP
SLS 563BHP 1620KGS 559PP

As I say these are very close already as standard and with a little work I think we will have a good set of GTE cars to race and all cars should be able to keep a similar pace :) 👍

Thoughts on all points mentioned is needed please 👍

Also this will be single driver per car series as there is not enough interest for double driver cars.

Also I have 4 drivers all interested and signed up ready for when this goes live 👍 a full sign up therad will go up when I can confirm more details 👍

Not getting much feedback or thoughts on this :(
Surely there are more people interested in doing something like this?
Would like more interest before I start putting loads of time in specing cars!
