Look.., I know the Arcade Mode isn't the most exciting to many here (obviously because you make no money/credits in these events)..., but could someone (who like me.., "who just enjoys the race") help me out here.?.?

I'm really having some problems wrapping my head around this Arcade Mode. I've been going back and forth in different tracks trying various types of vehicles.., some with big upgrades, some minor, some stock, and some with fully RM'd vehicles.

What I'm finding in ALL of these races that I do is that the AI is quite strange. From what I can tell it appears that not only is the AI rubber-banding.., but it also appears that in many if not all of the races I've done.., I see "adaptive AI".

Here's a good example:

I just did a race with a "stock" 1999 Lancer Evo (Premium Vehicle) on one of my own tracks. This was the vehicle AI line up

-SP1 (2008)
-Cobra 427 (1966)
-LFA (2010)
-CTR2 (1996)
-R390 GT-1 Road Car (1998)
-(ME in the Lancer Evo)
-Ferrari F430 (2006)
-GT-R (2007)
-R8 5.2 Quattro (2009)
-Viper SRT-10 (2003)
-GT-R Spec V (2009)
-Viper SRT-10 Coupe (2006)

Right off the start line (I had a great start too)..., I GOT F'n SMOKED! All of these AI cars just bolted like all hell man:crazy: At the first turn I managed to finally catch up to the last vehicle (Viper).., but the moment I got around the corner and tapped that gas at the sweet spot BAM! That Viper next to me (along with the entire pack) was GONE!.

So I figure just a few upgrades just to see what happens. All I added was a Sport Filter.., and kept the tires within the Sport Category.., but bumped up to Softs. I went back into the race.., right off the start.., WHAM! The AI freakin adapted and shot off just as quick. The ONLY reason I was able to catch the AI was because I was running on softs and was able to out corner all of them. That's NOT RIGHT!

This IMO is a REAL BIG problem in the Arcade Mode. AI behavior in Arcade Mode is nuts. It's extremely adaptive, rubber-bands, and quite unrealistic.

Does anyone (who uses Arcade Mode) have any suggestions?

Interesting..., just ran a battery of tests using various vehicles again and something really caught my attention. It "appears" that the problem in Arcade Mode is AI vehicle allocation when choosing vehicles from your Favorites List or Portable Garage.

It seems that the Arcade Mode only "properly" applies AI vehicles in these races when you use a vehicle from the group of Arcade Vehicles already provided as standard.

I ran a few tests using some of my Portable Garage vehicles and it was a hit and miss situation. When I selected my big powerhouse race cars the AI selection was spot on and the race was balanced. However.., when I selected my itsy bitsy 1963 S-800 Race Car (seriously this car is just freakin puny..) I ran into the same problem. One of the AI vehicles was the same as me.., and that puppy had to be easily pushing 50 more horses than me (even though it was the same bloody vehicle). On the straights I got smoked by the same car I was driving

Anyways.., if any of you are having issues like I am with the Arcade Mode.., it appears that if you just stick with the vehicles they provide things are more balanced and the AI works better.

It sounds like the cars in your portable garage have unequipped mods?
That would explain it.

That was most certainly the case in some situations and I happily accept the "stupid award" for the day on that. However.., in some cases it's still a hit and miss. That Evo for example. It was used (as purchased from the dealership) with no additional mods. In the Arcade Mode that little Evo was pitted up against F430's and Lambos :scared: Poor little booger didn't even have a chance.

The S-800 race car is another good example. That car was swapped over from my PSP. The PSP version of the game doesn't let you buy and add parts.., but do some basic tuning. That S-800 was stock from the PSP.., with no tuning.., and it couldn't even keep up with the exact same car in AI 👎

So again.., it's kinda hit and miss. I'm gonna restructure my garage and create a group of Arcade Cars to avoid problems. It seems that the best way to do it is leaving the cars alone.., and staying within the default tire category.

I have solution for you... Example I drive F1 GTR and on car selection I put him sport soft tires and then AI will be from my category... Not some super fast LMP car's! Then before race in setup I putt race soft tires and problem is gone... :) So for every car doing same think use slover tires and then before race putt your favorite tires... For EVO VI TM use comfort and then put sport soft or race tires before race and problem is fixed ;)

Strange stuff happens in arcade when you use one of your favorites. I'm messing with my Caterham lately and every single race, no matter what track I'm pitted against 15 Citroen GT's, they are easy enough to beat, but it would be nice with some variety + they lag the PS3 something fierce until you pass half of them.
