well after searching far and wide to no avail i decided that this was the only option left, although im fairly familiar with basic setup for pretty much any car in my garage (all 140 of them) i cannot for the life of my solve this problem.
i aqquired the Ford gt concept a while back and it sat in my garage since i had many other cars to work with, but now me and a couple of my friends are getting ready for a mid engined fully tuned LAN race and i wanted to bring somthing unique to the table instead of the usual nsx and esprits. once i had my heart set on this beautiful concept i tuned it up and found that it drove beautifully on one of my favorite tracks, laguna seca, that is.. until i tried to let off the gas and start braking. half the time the car simply spins several times leaving me confused and scrambling to figure the settings out to no avail. any help would be much appreciated:scared:

thanks i hadnt actually thought about reducing front grip... i had focused on adding rear grip ie downforce and tire changes i plan to try this out once my woman is done with the tv:scared:

I will try and dig out some settings for you to see if they are any help, it would also help us massively if you could post up the current modifications and settings you are using.

Without these as a base point its very difficult to suggest were to go, as while Suchayo is offering settings to try its always hard to know what effect they will have unless the cause is know (and your current settings are needed for that).

Edited to add - This thread may also be of interest, the settings and discussion are based on the road car, but should carry over well.

well i tried some of the settings mentioned earlier in the thread and they helped a little but still kid gloves needed. i even talked my friend into letting me dump a bunch of his credits into his non concept GT and had the same handling issues, according to the tuning hints in the wiki it is somthing many people have noticed and one even called them "evil handling super cars" or somthing like that.
to scaff: i am using the gt concept with every upgrade including racing suspension making just under 800 hp i think, when i first posted it was after first driving the modified car with no setting tweaks, and adjustments i made after that didnt seem to help much

so afrer trying and mixing all the settings in the links posted by scaff and in the wiki and although many of them helped to some extent. most of the best settings use extreme measure such as wierd lsd settings, camber and toe adjustments, and weight ballast to cure the two car's unpredictable throttle off oversteer... though it is fairly clear that these cars (the concept espeacially) will probably never handle as i think they would in real life with these sort of upgrades. the cars still handle far worse than they did when driven bone stock :indiff: on the good side, i think ive gotten the 05 gt up to the level where i can be competitive in my upcoming lan race, espeacially since i will be using a lesser state of NA tune

Here is one of mine for the 05 from competion week 9 and also what Dark Elite thought of it (it came joint 1st place IIRC):

"This car is ridiculously fast around the track. It isn’t, however, hard to drive – after just a couple of laps, you can take it right to its limits. But care must be taken, as crossing its limits may well result in a sharp spin. Very fun to drive, as well, and the tail pushes out on the power to make it just as good to watch. Confidence-inspiring would be a good way to describe this amazingly quick car."

You should however keep a couple of thing in mind, the main one being that any powerful mid-engined car is going to be twitchy in this regard. What you gain in its nature desire to turn when you want is a desire to spin when you don't want it too.

Try to avoid braking while turning as much as you can (difficult at the end of the start/finish straight at LS I know) and be very, very smooth with all your inputs. The desire for the back-end to step out on a throttle lift when cornering (even slightly) is a natural characteristic of the mid-engined layout.

Hope this helps some.

I tried several times to adjust the Ford GT to what I thought it should handle like (i.e. more like most of my other MR cars - the Zonda, Elise, Lancia, etc.). However, in the end I found out that, like the Yellowbird and some other cars with "extreme" personalities, the best thing you can possibly do is simply learn to drive it properly. Adjust the driver, not the car!

The Ford GT is extremely grippy under acceleration, but this is hampered somewhat by an LSD which you can't turn all the way off. As a result, as you add power, the tendency of the GT to begin understeering under heavy acceleration is increased. You might notice this as you start a turn at moderate or high speeds. Just learn throttle control and don't stomp the throttle all the way down and you'll be fine. Ease the throttle down instead. Also, once you go softer than R1 tires, it begins to exhibit odd snap oversteer characteristics, which worsen with each grippier tire-grade. You don't need or want softer tires on this thing anyway, as it has insane grip and eats even R1s for lunch like no other car in the game. If you do snap oversteer, remember to counter-steer and get back on the gas (not necessarily full-throttle however) to prevent a full spin (or, as often happens in the GT, a 90 degree sideways slide down the tarmac).

Finally, remember that with an LSD and gobs of torque across the RPM range, if you start to spin one rear up, the other often comes along for the ride as the LSD kicks in. Then you lose just about all lateral traction on the rear of the car and it is spin-city. As soon as you hear a tire start to chirp, or the wheel gets a little light in your hands, get off the throttle a little, and like NOW!

The Ford GT with stock suspensions, tuned to 838 (?) horsepower is my fastest road car around the ring. Also, the car is very nearly as fast, but MUCH easier to drive if you tune it to 720ish horsepower (stage 2 instead of stage 3 NA tuning).

Good luck!

yeah thats what i ended up doing (adjusting the driver) and it works well enough, but as said by panjandrum , i have several far more powerful mid and rear engined cars that either dont have this problem, or had the problem but it was realatively easy to tune out of the car. heck i love my yellow bird (also fully tuned). thanks for all the help and i will continue to try new settings and ill also let you know how my LAN race goes, thanks again:tup:

I see.

BTW, if you come accross my setting for Ford GT '05, I suggest not to use it to cure your Ford GT Concept problem. Since when tuning Ford GT '05 I don't feel the slighest hint of lift off oversteer, infact, it is the opposite, I annoyed with lift off understeer that I end up using 10/1 10/1 damper.

actually scahyo, i did come across those settings, but i dont think i ever tried them on the concept. that car definately seems to have the worse problem of the two... even after all that has been said about the car good and bad, it still suprises me on how difficult both cars have been to work with. for me the car is 10 times more stable with the throttle mashed around a corner, but as soon as i let off the throttle the back usually whips around before i have a chance to counter steer it. even with all the settings ive mixed and matched, i still have to be extremely careful doing any kind of slowing down except in a completely straight line. no other car that ive driven in the game (and thats quite a few mid engined ones included in there). my competition will be as follows nsx r concept,
saleen s7, cietza v16, r390 road car, VW nardo, and the last think he will be using the audi lemans. the cars will be tuned so as to be on about the same level of power to weight. wish me luck, and thanks for all the correspondence

It would need constant concentration if you car have lift off spin problem. If my damper solution do not help, try min front/max rear spring rate. Since I find that using max front/min rear spring make my MR2 problem, also spin at lift off throttle, worse. or use slightly higher front spring rate if the problem is small. Maybe higher overall ride height too.
Good luck

I think Scaff was on to it with his toesettings. But instead of using 0/2, I´d go for 1/3. I would also recommend a rideheight of 82/85 and a front suspension of 10. The GT has enormous rear tyres, and wheelsize is larger in the rear too.

my friends are getting ready for a mid engined fully tuned LAN race and i wanted to bring somthing unique to the table instead of the usual nsx and esprits.

You could run the Lotus Elise IIIr and most likely kick their "you-know-whats" :-)

How are you getting fully tuned cars to work in LAN mode? I wanted to do this, but found we couldn't even *choose* our garage cars in LAN mode. We must be dense... (I can already see the "please search first" replies :-)

Thanks for any info about using your garage cars in LAN mode (or, just point me to the correct thread...)

lol to tell you the truth i dont know how any of that stuff works, my one of my friends is responsible for all the tech stuff and he seems to think it will work... i dont think the elise would be powerful enough even with its excellent handling
