Im tight on cash, and wanted to buy a wheel for GT5. I had bought one of those HKS controllers to hold me for a bit...but I want to start learning to play with a wheel. This will be my first as Im starting to get a little more serious with the game. But I am not a diehard sim racer (Not yet at least). I was looking at two entry level wheels in my price range of $50. It was either the Thrustmaster Ferrari GT wheel with pedals or the Logitech Driving Force Wireless that sits on your lap with brake and gas triggers. Both have pros and cons. But Id like to hear from people that have used both or feedback on each. I know, people are gonna say "Get a DFGT"..I may get one or better later on down the road, but for now and being my first wheel....which one of the two would you recommend?

Your help would be appreciated. :)

Out of those two I'd go the Thrustmaster because it has pedals. But you are right, I am going to say you should get a DFGT. It might stretch your budget, but the difference in your driving experience is off the charts. The DFGT is great value for money. What about picking one up second hand on ebay?

You might try getting a DF Pro or DFGT used. I have seen DFGT's for <50 on craigslist and you might find a wheel at a thrift shop?

Thanks for the replies....

I found a used Logitech GT Force wheel for about $40 shipped....

I hope I did the right move. I know its compatible with GT5 since I seen the wheel in the settings menu. Anyhoo, cant wait to start driving on this thing. If I really get a feel for this thing, Ill be upgrading in the future.

Have fun! That is the important thing; getting a wheel that you can use to have fun as soon as possible within your budget. $40 sounds like a good deal if it works :)

Imo you should have got a Used DFGT for $10-20 more. But congratulations and enjoy the learning curve, you won't pick the controller up again once you get the hang of it :D

I think you will be a lot happier with a Force Feedback Wheel than one without. Have fun with it!
