The last 2 races have been tough for me in the FIA championship (both).

I always qualify in the top 3 but I always get wiped out in the first lap (I’m D rank still, I only play on weekends).

Monza is coming, tomorrow. It’s going to be a freaking mess, should I qualify high and get hard-rammed from behind? Should I just not qualify at all? How to avoid getting wiped out by bad drivers in the first lap?

Please, advice. You guys have a few million miles experience all together, any advice is welcome.

There have been reports of people playing dirty to reduce other people's rankings. As mad as that sounds it wouldn't really surprise me. Sport mode is a good idea but only works when it's difficult to access. As it's currently super easy to access you get coupled with idiots. And the world is full of idiots who think doing stuff like that is hilarious.

Sorry there was no real advice there. Check out the leagues here :)

I've been training very hard, 1 hour before each race, I even studied the tracks, etc etc etc, and all that for nothing at the end (well... #1 in my city and #4 in Kent, could be worse). I don't think they do it in purpose, I think they just don't care. I agree with you, it's too easy. SR should be way harder to obtain.

Anyways, I'm thinking in just jumping the chicane and accept the penalty, and pray for not getting rammed in the second chicane, which is also super dangerous.

I've always had decent lucky at Monza after the first lap. After that, everyone seems to spread out and as long as your pace is pretty quick you can pass people who have made mistakes. One of the few tracks I have got a win on in Sport Mode

you mean you don't qualify?

Man its pretty pessimistic that you thinkvyou will get hit (you my not). Wherever you qualify its tough. Guess you have to see what is coming at the 1st chicane. Also it is a grid start as well, which (imo) increases carnage. Like most advice I give, just go for it. Its best 2 of 4 races after all. Monza may be a 'free' race (if you don't care about DR/SR). If you do well its a bonus.

I usually qualify, and qualify fairly well at Monza. After the first chicane, it's fairly easy to make up places there IMO as long as you are consistent and fairly quick. I quite like Monza minus all the carnage.

When approaching first corner at monza, what I typically do is...
1. I make sure the radar is on.
2. I take a quick glance behind me to kinda "feel" which driver is going to ram me in the ass.
3. I tap the brake (only so the brake light turns on) to let people know I am braking soon.
4. As I'm braking, I take quick glances behind me to see if anyone is braking too late.
5. At this point I kinda just hope for the best. If I can avoid someone from ramming me I will try to move without getting a penalty. Hopefully I make the corner slowly and surely without pushing anyone. I try not to even touch anyone. I don't care about being first through first corner. I just want to get through. Hope this helps. Idk if you already do this

Good advice above from Strangereal. AND it's always better to qualify at Monza, especially with the RBX Jnr. If you survive the 1st corner, focus strongly on not making any mistakes on the first lap or two. With that car's "weird" stability when racing with a controller, you can expect lots of mistakes during the race and capitalize on that. BUT to be honest, I'm skipping that race as the risk of damage to DR/SR is very high which is not good if you try to get high points. Best of luck.

All my experience and I still got taken out at Monza T1 the last FIA race I was in. I'm not looking forward to it again but I will be trying to go all the way to the outside this time. I figure that the natural tendency for drivers is to aim for the first apex, so staying away from there is the safest spot to be in.

I post again so you guys get alert.

UPDATE:
Got a fast time (1:55, not bad) but I couldn't get the pole due to traffic. Qualifying for a race like this was hilarious, there were people spinning around all over the track.

I qualified 4 but for some reason the system put me in p5 (??) I solved the first corner problem by... ignoring T1 and going straight. I got 5 seconds of course, but that is better that the carnage behind, there were cars flying in my mirrors... flying!

Needless to say that P1 didn't like my move but I ghosted because the penalty and he got his position back and I returned to my deserved P5. After that, it was literally like in telly. Wonderful, clean, beautiful racing. Loved it. Manage some fuel saving in slipstream and got P4 in pit stop (thanks @Tidgney and @kie25 for your videos, very instructive)

Thank you guys for the top advice. You really make the game better with this forum.

Guessing it was a good 'free race' then.

I don´t have big problem with first turn, yes it's a problematic turn but you can't drive in blindness the view where you have a mirror is essential to avoid ramming.

The advice is move away from people that is going to ramming you, the mirror will help you telling that. There is no ideal line to take, take the line where no one is going to hit you.

You have to remember that most of the people is not ramming because they like too do that, its just because the make some wrong calculation, if you have one of the top 5 position it's important that you block the right side of the track, stay on the right side of the track so people from behind dont see a chance too gain huge amount of positions.

Can't speak for GT but getting punted in turn one is possible in any sim.

What I do is qualify as high as I can, then take the inside line.

If someone comes in too hot, they always have a tendency to dive left if it's non intentional.

Always qualify, and never cut the chicane.
