Well it is getting more sunny in New England and the days are getting longer so I'll be spending more time driving with sunglasses on. Unfortunately, my car (Subie Impreza 2.5TS) has a very polarized-sunglass-unfriendly dash: the speedo/tach go dark unless I turn the headlights on (and thus the backlighting), and then only the needle is visible. Unfortunately, turning the headlights on dims the interior clock (to reduce glare, I guess) so then it goes black, and I end up flipping the lights on and off whenever I want to know the time.

I was wondering how many manufacturers have addressed this issue. I hear them whine about it quite a bit in Car & Driver, and to be fair it seems to be a simple thing to fix and rather important. Is your car polarized-sunglass friendly?

Don't wear sunglasses...at least polarized ones...coulda used them today, though.

You might have to define sunglasses for our Scottish members

I've got no problem reading any of the dispays/dash components in my car with my sunglasses on, but I don't know if my sunglasses are polarised.

Never really wore sunglasses, other then my polarized safety glasses at work, but even then my lift truck isn't made for them either. Really sucks when your outside in the sun, then drive inside and your completely blind! I've almost hit a couple posts doing that.

I wear sunglasses a lot, I don't have any problems with any of the cars I drive.

:grumpy: seems I am the only unlucky one, then

Subaru, how hard could it possibly be to fix this problem!?

Interesting, I've never had a problem with any of mine or my wife's cars wearing polorized sunglasses. The one exception was her VW Jetta Mk. IV. The LCD display on the car radio/CD player washed out when wearing polarized lenses.

Never had a problem on any of my Bimmers. Nor the Miata. Nor the Nissan.

I don't have polarized sunglasses, I just wear transitions prescription glasses (they change to sunglasses when they sense sunlight). They don't work in the car, though, and that doesn't bother me. I just use the sun visor, 'cause that's what it's there for, or I just move my head so that the roof or rear-view mirror blocks the sun from my eyes.

I have glasses as well but I wear clip-ons in the car becuase the glare really bothers me, and I commute home into the sun pretty much.
