Polished/painted rims

Ok after searching i can`t find any mention of a list of the rims/wheels that when painted still leave that polished edge, It appears that some wheels have that look until you paint them and then the whole wheel gets painted not just the center .
Whilst i know its difficult do to the fact different cars have different wheel options it would be great if someone could let me know the ones they have painted and the edge remained that exposed polished look thanks:boggled:
 
Yeah, I'd like to know this aswell.

Some wheels I've painted, the entire wheels gets painted, but I painted a set of wheels a few days ago and the rim was still left 'polished', only the centre of the wheel got painted.

If anyone knows whether its certain wheels that leave their rims polished or if there are other factors involved - if so what, I'd be very grateful if someone could explain.

I would guess that it would be rims that are two-tone to begin with...
