If PD would optimize gt5 to run on 2 ps3 (only one monitor needed), to achieve better graphics, better AI, much more cars on the track (say at least 35-40), better damage modelling, etc, etc, etc, would you buy a second ps3 to be able to experience these improvements?

ps to not to make you read the whole threat IT IS technically achievalbe!!!

No. For me, GT5 is well enough made to stay happy with. And physics I think wouldn´t need a 2nd PS3. Graphics may be another story, but actually my TV is the weak link in the chain :)

As much as I love the game, I wouldn't. Pay an extra 299$ for features they should've added with in the game? Ha I wish I'll catch myself.

No.
I'm GT fan but sorry, can't do that. Not wasting my money just to play one game on 2 consoles.

no, because frankly the main problem of this game is more about bad design choices than hardware limitation, for one the AI code has nothing to do with it, as seen by F12010 which is also on the XBOX.

Nice! we got 25% yes against 75% no, however need a little bit more participants to get more accurate figures, so volks please vote.

Are you kidding? Like I've got an extra $300 laying around to buy a PS3 so I can trade one more car per day...

Just get rid of the stupid rule and let it go at that.

Dude with all due respect I think you misunderstood the question!

And yes I agree with you, it would be stupid (very stupid) to buy second ps3 to avoid 1 car limit per day :)

i wouldnt buy a second ps3 because of gt5. if anything i would buy another one just to have as a spare in case my current one dies on me

Running a multi-monitor GT5 setup is the only reason I would consider buying multiple PS3's.

The scenario the OP is proposing basically translates to GT6 running on a PS4.

multi-monitor setup is very costly, you need at least 3 ps3s and 3 monitors (monitors itself cost more than ps3s), its like 3 times more expensive (at least) than running gt5 on 2 ps3s. And multi monitor GT5 doesn't bring anything new to the gt5 but make it look wider, so... what I suggest is you still have one monitor but you have 2 ps3 working together to produce something that 1 ps3 cannot achieve like 30 cars on track, very smart AI, better graphics, insane car damage etc etc etc.

This scenario is not technically possible. PS3's are not able to communicate in such a way to share processor task loads. Nor can they send multiple compiled feeds for one image to a single monitor. So therefore, this thread is pointless.

Are you sure it is not possible, how the hell ps3s are being used in cluster super computers dude? And how the hell tripple monitor setup works? Is it pure power sharing?

I can tell you for a fact that multiple ps3's can not output a video signal to a single monitor. No such HDMI cable or component cable even exists to support such a thing.

Yes.It's all I dream about. But mainly because of better graphics, they never do other changes because this way it becomes two different games.I mean it needs to be OPTIONAL and not affecting core elements at all.

Will never happen this gen. I remember them making a fuss about the 4 PS3s and the super high resolution. It's also fun to re-read this part: "Judging by statements made by some Polyphony Digital representatives over the past year, we might not see GT5 in 2009, forcing us to wait until first half of 2010." Ahhh memories..

Well it should be optional of course. I dont think if they implement more cars on track or better damage modeling the games is going to be different. Think of it as if you playing online crysis on med spec rig vs high spec rigs opponent, everybody experience different stuff dude, different physics and different lighting and special effects, so its not an obstacle at all!!! And from the link on the article i posted above, we know that PD can do this long time ago, so they wont even need to spend time thinking how to do it, they already did it, we just need to ask them to give it to us :).

And with time passing and ps3 getting cheaper and cheaper this becomes more and more resonable way to go. Because 2 ps3s is a serious processing power even by today's standards! It is 2 Cells (a single Cell is more powerful than icore 7 http://n4g.com/news/333294/cell-pro...-new-playstation-3-codec-uses-for-transcoding) its 1 gig of super fast ram, and 2 crappy videocards, but hey gt5 rans graphicly pretty good on only 1 so 2 gonna make it look like next gen game!!!

Yes!
I mean give me better shadows, better reflections, anti-aliasing, stable FPS, faster loading times (all special effects that are not here or limited because of performance issues) and I buy second PS3 just for that! Also 60FPS replays and menus are very welcome.Same for 3D.

Nope.

I play GT5 for the physics, not the graphics. Still enjoy GT1 👍

Dude, additonal processing power could be spend not only on graphics also on physics, new life-like damage modeling (which is a part of physics) etc etc!!!
