I do it by eye but I don't stare, I can see the blinking in the corner of my eye.

I shift by eye most of the time, but sometimes I shift by ear.

I think I use my left hand.

Ear ofcourse.

Eyes usually, ears if I'm not looking.

Both ears and red light. It depends on the car. Sometimes one sometimes the other.

Mostly I just shift when I hear the rev limiter kicking in thought. :sly:

^ That means you'll never get past 3rd gear in either the Cappuccino, Copen or the Autozam :sly:

I'm on my phone so I cant vote. But I would lean towards shifting by ear. Every now and then I catch myself looking at the gauge.

I use the tachometer to see how far I am in the redline, I never use the red blinky light. It varies because I will also shift when I feel the car has reached its max in that gear.

I follow the sound to determine shift points, though sometimes I am forced to go by eye, whoever that voted by eye solely needs to get readjusted to listening for the shift point, you'll be a lot better.

I use the force.

Ear usually.

I listen to my engine to know when to shift, which throws me off if I do a hybrid race like one I had in FM4 a few weeks back. It must've been the most silent race in motorsport history, with only the occasional tire squeal. Bounce the needle off the red line and not even know it until I look down at the tach.

By ear for 99% of the time - that 1% happens when I'm overtaking (or being overtaken) and can hear nothing but my opponent's car.

I mostly drive F1 cars now so... I just glance at the LEDs to know when to shift.

Both, if its a car I have just bought, then by eye. If its a car I'm used to, ear

A bit of both. If the car's engine has an unusual powerband I'll shift by eye, although I don't stare at the tach when upshifting, usually just a quick glance or using peripheral vision. Most of the time I shift by a combination of hearing and peripheral vision.

I do it by ear mostly - though a glance at the tach occasionally does help. However one does also tend to shift due to circumstances - 'dropping a gear' for instance for a quick burst of speed, or down-shifting deliberately to use a lower gear for better traction.

I use my ears, but when I'm in a group of cars I glance down occasionally to check the gears.

I use ear unless I'm down shifting.

Always by ear. Dont do it any other way
