I am talking here about the "value", so you wouldnt have to spend that many credits, just trade a bunch of stuff at that value in the marketplace. So essentially this cost could be covered by cars you've won or birthday'd.
Doesnt have to be just prize cash.




Just curious to see what people would pay in credits (if they could) for a Chrome paint item.

Ill base the poll around Silver Chrome. So pls take a min to just mark how much you'd pay for Silver Chrome if the game allowed you to buy it.

edit2: decided. im just going to leave it as <50k and zero both fall under the first category anyway.

First one to vote, I suppose. Only voted for ~100K because I'm with Stiggums: <50K or nothing.

It's just a paint chip, no matter how rare or special. Paint shouldn't cost as much as, say, an exhaust system or racing soft tires. 5K, maybe. 500c. would be even better.
 
I would pay nothing for chrome paints, and I don't care about the chrome paints
Maybe as some kind of awards or achievement like the 4 matte black race cars in GT4

Some people go for performance over style, i get that its fine. Thats why we have this poll now to (hopefully) give all traders a better idea of its value.

Personally i have a 50" plasma HDTV with 5.1 surround sound system, so for me half the appeal of this game is about the looks and stuff.

So everyone's different i guess. Some ppl use handbrakes others don't. Some drift others don't. Some like their big muscle cars, others their short MRs.

What a waste imo when it makes the cars look so awesome! Wouldn't you rather have a chrome car with gold wheels or something? Personally i like White (poss Chaste or Sarajevo) body with Plum Crazy wheels.

Im on lvl 20 and have only got one chrome paint and you're telling me you use them on wheels. Ha lol, this must be how ppl in the third world feel when we leave the tap running when we brush our teeth.

I just don't think they look good, I'd rather have a matte white car with matte black wheels or lime green car with black or polished wheels. If I get Chrome colors i'll post them in the market and those that want them can have a chance to trade for them. My garbage is someone else's gold and vise versa.
 
yeah I can't believe what some people are trading for chrome. Now with the new paint glitch the price should start to drop.

Yup, I think prices will drop soon. Anyone with a bit of patience and don't mind clogging up the garage can get it at 150k with the glitch - 30 x 5k karts. 150k = less than 2 Indy rounds. Factoring in the time taken to buy karts and restarting the game till you get chrome, I assume that the time taken will be around.. 30 - 45 minutes if you are lucky?

Although I must say that chrome looks awesome to me, and for now, I don't mind trading something around 1m or so for it. (That means I will run another 8 extra rounds of Indy just to save my garage from clogging up.)

P.S. Done the glitch yesterday when my garage cars number reached 270, took me around 6 restarts to get chrome, and with a matte pink which I turned down.

Ye i totally get it. I was just a lil shocked lol. I just wish there was an easy way to get chromes and mattes because they never seem to come on cars (at least not for me). And I like to keep my garage small for convenience so getting a special paint every 10 cars isnt benefitting me much thats what it is i think.

Less than 100k, holy hell.
I was looking for the 10k range before I saw it wasn't an option.
Granted, I might pay 50k for BLACK CHROME, but at 50k to paint my wheels, I'd probably only do even that a handful of times, for my absolute favorite cars.

im lvl 27 and am yet to see a chrome chip :(
 
Dude some people trade Ferrari F1 cars, X1's, insane race cars, etc. for chrome paints...don't listen to these guys they obviously haven't really been in the marketplace.

finally some sense. in the marketplace there's always a demand for chrome so some of the votes have surprised me tbh
 
There's still demand because most people haven't catch on to the new paint exploit yet. I give it a week or two and chrome paint will be worthless. It's only take you 30 mins average to get one btw. Here's how: (assuming you have 0 Cr to spend)
-Race at Indy twice and you'll have ~200,000 cr
-Go buy 30 karts for 5000 each.
-When the paint reward message come up and it's not the paint you want, don't press OK. Keep restarting the game until you get the paint you want.
-Repeat until you get sick of chrome.
Yeah, I have 3 chrome chip already and only start doing it yesterday.

There's a flaw in this exploit... if you sell the 30 karts then buy 30 more, you won't get another chip since it only rewards you the first time you hit the necessary amount. So if you really wanna keep going with it you're gonna end up with a ton of karts floating around your garage.

Yeah, but the garage doesn't have a limit so I don't see any problem with having 1000 karts. :sly:

EVERYONE is going to have a ton of carts in their garage if they're trying to get the 1k trophy. It's almost unavoidable.

I have 3 chrome chips also but I'm doing it a little different. I'm playing a second account. I'm using the cars from my main account to play the 2nd one so it's 100% profit. I sell all the cars I win and purchase nothing but carts. When I get tired of chrome I'll start collecting Matte's.
