We all know the rubber band trick saves time and keeps our sanity, but there's always the "purist-elitist" morons that complain about it being too easy (or whatever their excuse is).

I personally love it as it racked me up millions while I was recovering from getting my wisdom teeth pulled out (top gear top tip: eat soft foods until you can open your jaw normally...and without pain). Also scored a RX8 Concept race car and 2001 Skyline concept as well as some other cool cars.

EDIT: Some people don't know the rubber band trick. Here's the thread: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=161147&highlight=a-spec+grind

And yes, I forgot a "no, I don't do this/use this" option...no wonder Ferrari comes in handy :P.

If that's what your into, by all means I have no problem with it. I don't see how it makes the game any more enjoyable though, which is why I am playing other racing games now instead 👍

Personnaly, I don'T care of some people do, as I understand that grinding millions is so long, so if few can cut that time, why not. Anyways, I'm who to tell others how to play their game ? If I would have the patience to try it, i'd do it too.

In my opinion, it's something that some people need to really enjoy the game to the fullest.
There are over 1000 cars in this game, and alot of those cars are very expensive.
Now let's just say that you are a big fan of LMP cars,
than you will need alot of money to be able to drive those cars.
Add that to the fact that alot of those people don't have the time to get all these credits,
the only reasonable solution would be the rubber band trick.

I have to admit, that i use it every once in a while, to complete my car collection.
After i complete the collection, the fun really starts: driving and tuning them all.

What is the Rubber band trick. I just use a rapid fire in the X button for Bspec. Yes it presses X the whole time but it has not effect. After race it hits X and restarts race and stuff. I do it all day with 4 hour endurance. hold the button down with Duck Tape and an upside down soda cap. Redneck style. It works. Good enough

Personally, I'm a Purist when it comes to the GT series, but I have nothing wrong with something being a temporary MacGyver to figure out you can race GT5 strapping a rubber band to your controller. You're not cheating/glitching/hacking GT5 through software means, so there's no real problem doing it.

I voted for "Cool, I use it here and there." because I have to babysit it every 7-8 minutes because my keyboard doesn't keep the rotation going.

If you have no choice (Or just need your sanity), I have no problem with it, it's just those people who do. If you don't like it, kindly GTFO.

The poll doesn't cover me:

I have used it reluctantly, as it is a quicker way to earn credits to buy cars
BUT I don't like it. It seems strange that a game is set up that makes doing this the most logical thing to do, if my 9 year old wants to drive a FGT or F1 Ferrari. So while I work late at night, I set it up to earn a few million credits at a time.

Last night sent him an FGT in his favourite colour, tonight I bought him a WRC Focus and a Lancia Delta S4.

How else could he possibly get these cars, if he only gets a few hours a week?

would like to vote for necessary evil!

Whats the rubber band glitch?

I just go in the X1 and do the dream car indy race for credits.

If that's your game, fine to me.

But if you actually drive your cars in a few races, play with them, you'll get both the credits and the xp for your next cars and could actually have fun with the game...

Its sad because the purpose of the video game is to give you enjoyment. When you start treating it like a job, it stops being a game.

whats the rubber band trick

Take two rubber bands, a DS3, and voilla:

Only people who are not happy are are the people who are trading the 65ish expensive cars. people who dont have the rest and now cant race, think i have about 450 but thats judt ffinding fastest in regs.

Helps if you have a USB keyboard, too. Plug it into the PS3, use a clothespin or other kind of spring clamp to hold the "Enter" button down, and that will keep hitting the button to enter and keep repeating the race. Couple that with the rubberbands on the controller, and you have a system to net you over a half-million credits an hour, and about 250,000 experience points.

By the way, if you remap the controller, you can have the left joystick do the accelerating as well. Just map "Up" on that joystick to mean "Accelerate", and you don't even need the rubber band on the right joystick.

Hasn't caused me any problems in my regular gameplay, either.

I have over 920 cars and haven't used any tricks or cheats. I don't care if other people want to but it's not for me.

I use it to gain credits, but still im not buying cars, i get duped cars from friends etc just because i can :). I just wait untill the savegame can be fully modified, so you can add 20 million instant, and then i maybe buy cars.

I fit in about an hour 3 times a week and in the end I was sick of window shopping so I setup the auto grind and now I can actually enjoy playing the game instead of looking at cars and wishing I had the time to "earn" them
